.? <br />? <br />? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 68- 4 PAGE 2 <br />1593.53 Water-distributing pipe,tubing and fittings. <br />(a) Subject to the provisions of subsections <br />(b) ,(c) and (d) of this Section, material for <br />water-distributing pipes and tubing shall be <br />of brass, copper, lead, cast-iron, wrought <br />iron, open hearth iron, steel or other approved <br />material with appropriate approved fittings, <br />conforming to the applicable specifications <br />listed in Table 93A. All threaded ferrous pipe <br />and fittings shall be galvanized (zinc-coated) <br />or cement lined. When used in corrosive soil, <br />all ferrous pipe and fittings shall be coal tar <br />enamel coated or otherwise protected in an <br />equivalent manner against external corrosion. <br />(b) No piping material shall be used to convey <br />potable wat er where reaction between such mat- <br />erial and the water may cause the potable water <br />supply used for human consumption or culinary <br />purposes to be toxic or otherwise unsuitable <br />for human consumption. <br />(c) Piping or fittings that have been used for <br />other than potable water supply shall not be <br />used in a potable water supply system. <br />(d) All inside underground water piping on any <br />construction shall be covered with at least 6" <br />or sand. <br />Section 2: That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, <br />health, safety and welfare by virtue of the fact that additional thickness is <br />needed for underground water piping.
