<br />• ~ ! ~+ nr <br />B - 8 <br />POSITION TITLE: <br />RESPONSIBLE TO: <br />BUILDING INSPECTOR <br />BUILDING COMMISSIONER <br />Duties: <br />1. Make field inspections to determine that construction and <br />alteration work being done complies with the City Building <br />Code and Zoning Ordinances. <br />2. Checks the quality of materials and methods of construction. <br />3. Consults with Builders and others regarding compliance with <br />the Building laws. <br />4. Works independently, making own final decisions. <br />5. Work is subject to periodic check. <br />6. Reviews plans filed with applications for compliance with <br />the City Zoning Law and Building Code. <br />7. Inspects all construction, demolition, and repair of <br />buildings in the City for safety from file and collapse <br />and for conformance to height and area requirements. <br />8. Checks building during construction for size and depth of <br />footings, size and type of materials used for walls, sills, <br />beams, joists, bracing, flooring, roofing, lathing and <br />plastering. <br />9. Inspects soil for its suitability for foundations. <br />10. Issues stop work orders when necessary. <br />11. Gives information to builders and others regarding <br />requirements of the law. <br />12. Makes final inspections of completed buildings giving <br />occupancy approval for City. <br />13. Inspects fences, signs, and concrete work, for compliance <br />with the zoning and building laws. <br />14. Makes written reports concerning inspections made. <br />15. Performs other related work as assigned. <br />- 52 - <br />
