This shall not prevent reduction or <br />cancellation of scheduled hours of work on a temporary basis if <br />an emergency occurs which is beyond the control of the City. <br />Section 3: Employees shall be allowed not less than thirty <br />(30) uninterrupted minutes for a scheduled lunch period daily <br />except for other schedules mutually agreed upon with the Union. <br />Section 4: There shall be two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest <br />periods on each shift each work day. The rest periods, to the <br />extent practicable, will be scheduled during the middle two (2) <br />hours of each shift, but they may not be scheduled immediately <br />before or after the meal period or at the start or end of a <br />shift. The rest periods are to be taken at the employee's job <br />location, but one member of a crew on the road, may, when it is <br />possible to do so without terminating the operation of the crew, <br />leave the area to obtain refreshments at the nearest available <br />source for himself and other members of the crew to be consumed <br />at the job location. <br />(a) When an employee in the Waste Water Treatment <br />Plant is to work an additional full or half shift, <br />the employee has the right to leave the plant with- <br />out loss of pay for up to thirty (30) minutes to <br />obtain a meal and obtain food for lunch in the over- <br />time shift if he is to work a full shift. <br />(b) When an employee in the Service Department is on an <br />overtime assignment the employee is provided a paid <br />thirty (30) minute lunch, after approximately four <br />(4) hours of overtime if he is to continue work. <br />14 <br />
