All such <br />excess vacation leave credit shall be eliminated from the <br />employee's vacation leave balance. <br />3. All vacation time shall be paid at the regular <br />salary rate except when employee requests vacation credit <br />accumulation. For the purpose of calculating vacation pay, <br />when vacation accumulation is requested by employee, the salary <br />rate at the time such accumulated vacation was requested shall <br />be used to calculate vacation pay. If, due to scheduling; <br />vactions cannot be taken subsequent to the year such vacation <br />was earned and are accumulated and taken in the next subsequent <br />year, the rate of vacation pay shall be at the rate of pay <br />during the year such vacation is taken provided the same is <br />approved by the Director of Public Safety. <br />4. In all departments, vacations must be scheduled <br />with and authorized by the department head. Schedules are to <br />be coordinated so as not to disrupt necessary City services or <br />functions of the department. <br />ARTICLE X <br />LUMP SUM PAYMENT <br />Any employee, at the time of his retirement, may elect <br />to receive all benefits due him in one lump sum payment. <br />ARTICLE XI <br />HEALTH INSURANCE <br />1. The City shall pay the full amount of <br />hospitalization costs of all full-time sworn members of the <br />-13-
