. ? , • /?"` ,'"A <br />. t ? <br />,?, ?.....rr <br />(4) Any waters or wastes containing toxic or poisonous sol- <br />tas, liquids or gases in sufficient quantity, either <br />singly or by interaction with other wastes, to injure or <br />interfere with any sewage treatment process, constitute <br />a hazard to humans or animals, create a public nuisance <br />or create any hazard in the receiving waters of the sew- <br />age treatment plant, including cyanides. <br />(5) Any garbage that has not been properly shrec3ded. The <br />installation and operation of any garbage grinder <br />equipped with a motor of three-fourths horsepower (0.76 <br />hp metric) or greater shall be subject to the review and <br />approval of the Building Commissioner. <br />(6) Any ashes, cinders, sand, mud, straw, shavings, metal, <br />glass, rags, feathers, tar plastics, wood paunch, <br />manure, hair and fleshings, entrails, lime slurry, lime <br />residues, chemical residues, paint residues, cannery <br />waste, bulk solids or any other solid or viscous sub- <br />stance capable of causing obstruction to the flow in <br />sewers or other interference with proper operation of <br />the sewage works. <br />(7) Any waters or wastes containing Suspended Solids (TSS) <br />of such character and quantity that unusual attention or <br />expense is required to han8le such materials at the <br />sewage treatment plant, or any substance which may cause <br />the POTW's effluent or treatment resic3ues, slu3ges, or <br />scums, to be unsuitable for reclamation and reuse or to <br />interfere with the reclamation process. <br />(8) Any noxious or malociorous gas or substance capable of <br />creating a public nuisance, or substances causing the <br />release of noxious or poisonous gases after discharge <br />into the public sewer system. <br />(9) Any waters or wastes containing strong acid iron pick- <br />ling wastes or concentrated plating solutions, whether <br />neutralized or not. <br />(10) Any waters or wastes containing iron, chromium, copper, <br />zinc, and similar objectionable or toxic substances; or <br />wastes exerting an excessive chlorine requirement, to <br />such degree that any such material received in the com- <br />posite sewage at the sewage treatment works exceeds the <br />limits established by the Service Director as authorized <br />in Chapter 917 of the Codified Ordinances for such <br />materials, and which might cause the POTW to violate its <br />NPDES and/or other Disposal System permits. <br />-22-
