?. ?. <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 84- 64 <br />BY: <br />Mrs. PetrigaC and Mrs. Saringer <br />4 . e?vj9 <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO <br />THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED OF A <br />PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED BY PROVIDING FOR A NEW <br />SECTION RELATING TO THE ELIMINATION OF <br />STAGGERED LEGISLATIVE AND ADMINISTRATIVE TERMS <br />OF OFFICE AND PROVIDING FOR THE TERMS OF <br />OFFICE FOR ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Charter of the City and the <br />Constitution of the State of Ohio, this Council has determined to <br />authorize and direct the submission to the electors of the City <br />of North Olmsted of a proposed Charter amendment hereinafter set <br />forth at the General Election to be held on November 6, 1984, <br />which election is not less than sixty (60) days nor more than One <br />Hundred Twenty (120) days from the date of passage of this <br />Ordinance. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO, TWO-THIRDS OF <br />ALL MEMBERS CONCURRING: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council hereby authorizes and directs <br />the submission to the electors of the City of North Olmsted at <br />the General Election to be held at the usual places of voting in <br />said City on Tuesday, November 6, 1984, the following proposal to <br />amend the Charter of the City of North Olmsted: <br />Proposal That Article IX of the Charter of the City of <br />North Olmsted, entitled "Nominations and Elections" be amended to <br />include a new Section 9 entitled "Elective Offices - Terms" which <br />Section 9 of Article IX to read as follows: <br />ARTICLE IX <br />SEC. 9 ELECTIVE OFFICES - TERMS <br />Notwithstanding the provision of Article III entitled "The <br />ilayor" Section 1 thereof entitled "Term", Article IV entitled <br />"The Council" Section 1 thereof entitled "Number and Terms", <br />Article V entitled "Administrative Officers and Departments", <br />Section 2 thereof entitled "Director of Law " and Section 3 <br />thereof entitled "Director of Finance" the terms of office for <br />all of the aforesaid shall be as follows: Commencing with the <br />regular municipal election in the year 1985, the term of office <br />for the Mayor, the President of Council and the four (4) members <br />of Council, elected from the several wards, the Director of Law <br />andDirector of Finance shall be for a term of two (2) years. <br />Said individuals elected to said offices shall assume office on <br />the first day of January following their elections.
