_ ?. . <br />CITY OF NORTH OLN6TED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 85 - 8 6 <br />PAGE 13 <br />(H) The height of the lowest member of any sign which is not <br />integral with a wall surface shall not be less tfian <br />eight and one-half feet (8%1) above a sidewalk or otfier <br />pedestrian walkway and not less than fourteen feet (141) <br />if over or within eighteen inches (18'") of the vertical <br />projection of a pavement used for vehicular traffic. <br />The maximum height of such sign sfiall not exceed twenty- <br />five feet (25'). <br />(I) Notwithstanding, the foregoing provisions of this Section <br />1221.06, in a General Retail Business District where a <br />building used for business purposes and having a floor <br />area of 100,000 square feet or more has a facade or <br />facades which face a parking area and/or one or more other <br />buildings used for business purposes and which are <br />located at least one himdred feet (1001) distant from all <br />dedicated streets and all areas contained in a Residential <br />District, then there shall be permitted on each such <br />facade (including, in addition to the principal exterior <br />wall or walls of such facade, any parapet wall, or pent- <br />house wall comprisi.ng a part thereof), permanent signs <br />having a total area equal to six percent (6%) or less of <br />the area of such facade (including in addition to the <br />principal exterior wall or walls of such facade, any <br />parapet wall, or penthouse wall comprising a part thereof), <br />but no sign installed or maintained pursuant to the pro- <br />visions of this paragraph (H) shall extend above the wall <br />on which it is placed. <br />1221.07 Signs in Limited Tndustry Districts <br />Signs in Limited Industry Districts sfiall be accessory to <br />a building or use permitted and sha11 con£orm with the regulations <br />set forth in this Section. <br />(A) The following type of signs as to content shall be permitted: <br />l. Real Estate and Development Signs, as regulated <br />inSection 1ZZ1. . <br />2. Directional Signs. <br />3. Tndustria_lSi gns_, provided the-sign is located <br />on t e same ?t as the establishment or use to <br />which it is directed. <br />(B) The following types of signs as to design shall be permitted: <br />1. Flat and Wall Si s, and Pro'ectin Signs as <br />regu ate in ection 1221.06. <br />2. Groumd Signs, if located on the same lot as the <br />T?ui ing or use to which it directs attention. <br />3• Te ora Limited TnduSt Si s. In the event o£ <br />a new usiness or use, a at or wall sign not <br />exceeding forty (40) square feet in size, may be <br />attached to the building for a period of time not <br />more than thirty (30) days beyond the installation <br />of its permanent signs, or ninety (90) days maximum, <br />whichever occurs first. Written approval must first <br />be obtained from the Building Official.
