Signs are herein classified and <br />defined, according to design, as follows: <br />1. F1at or Wa11 - A sign erected parallel to, or <br />paintec on the surface, or integral witfi tfie wall <br />of any building. <br />2. Ma.r uee - A sign attached to the soffit or fascia <br />orquee, roof over a walk or permanent awning. <br />3. Mobile - A street sign painted on or attached to <br />vehic?es that are not used in the normal course <br />of business and which remain stationary on the <br />property and street signs moimted on trailers or <br />other towable vehicles. <br />4. Groimd - A sign which is freestanding, has a support- <br />ingT?ase designed as an integral part of tfie sign, <br />and rests totally or primarily upon the growld. <br />5. Pole - A sign which is supported by a pole or poles <br />anT-designed so as to permit pedestrian or vehicular <br />traffic thereimder. <br />6. Portable - A sign which is designed to be portable <br />o a temporary nature, not securely and/or permanently <br />anchored to the groimd or to a building or structure <br />and which obtains some or a11 of its structural <br />stability with respect to wind or other normally <br />applied forces by means of its design or character. <br />7. Pro'ectin - A display sign which is attacfied directly <br />to t e uilding wall, and which extends more tfian <br />fifteen inches (15") from the face of the wall. <br />8. Roof - A sign erected upon and completely over the <br />rooT of any building. <br />9. Te ora - A sign constructed of cloth, fabric or <br />ot e?t temporary ma.terial with or without a <br />structural frame intended for a limited period of <br />display, including decoration displays for fiolidays <br />or public demonstrations. <br />10. Attraction Devices - Referring to anima.tion, revolu- <br />tion, movement up and down or movement sideways, <br />windblown devices such as pennants, spinners and <br />streamers. <br />1221.06 Signs in Retail Biisiness Districts <br />Signs in Retail Busi.ness Districts sfiall be accessory to a <br />building_or use permitted and conform with the regulations set <br />forth in this Section. <br />(a) Roof signs, attractive devices, temporary, mobile and <br />portable signs are not a permitted use in the Retail <br />Business District except as otherwise provided, but tfie <br />following type of signs shall be permitted: <br />1. Business signs, if the sign is located on tfie <br />same lot as the business or service to which it <br />is directed.
