r^ " <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 86 -43 <br />PAGE 2 <br />The remaining members shall be one appointed by Council, one <br />member of Council, and one member of the City Planning Commission. <br />Each appointed member shall serve for a term of two years and may <br />be reappointed. However, effective January l, 1988, the terms of <br />the members appointed by the Mayor and the term of the member <br />appointed by Council shall be staggered. Threee (3) of the <br />members appointed by the Mayor shall be appointed for one (1) year <br />and the remaining members appointed by the Mayor shall be <br />appointed for two (2) years. The one (1) member appointed by <br />Council shall be appointed for one (1) year. All appointments as <br />herein specified thereafter shall be for two (2) years. <br />SECTION 2: That there is hereby created a new Section 165,06 entitled <br />"Designation of Landmarks District" which new Section shall read as <br />follows: <br />165.06 DESIGNATION OF LANDMARKS DISTRICT. <br />(a) The Commission may designate any area within the City as <br />a Landmarks District provided that at least 50% of the structures <br />within the area are at least fifty (50) years old and the area <br />must have some historic significance. Any action by the <br />Commission designating an area a Landmarks District, shall be done <br />in accordance with the following procedure: <br />(1) A nomination for Landmark District designation <br />may be made by the Commission members, property <br />owners, or any resident of the City of North <br />Olmsted. The nomination shall include rationale <br />and historical data. <br />(2) The Cor•?mission shall accept the nomination and <br />vote to accept or reject the nomination for study <br />and evaluation. <br />(3) The chairman shall appoint member(s) to <br />prepare a documented report on the nominated site <br />including a history, site maps, and eventual <br />placement for the plaques. <br />(4) The complete report shall be presented to the <br />Commission.
