Page 14 15.4 If an Employee does not report to the Fire Chief upon expiration of the leave of absence, he shall lose all rights of employment. 15.5 bnployees with less than one year employment shall not be eligible for a Leave of Absence. ARTICLE XVI ON-DUTY INJURY 16.1 In the event that an E7rq~loyee is: (a) injured while in the line of duty due to a sudden and accidental occurrence or, (b) becomes ill due to contact with Aids, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis or Meningitis, and such injury or illness has so incapacitated the Employee that he is temporarily unable to work, the Fire. Chief shall render a decision whether the injury or illness is work related and of.a temporary nature. The Fire Chief may then request the Safety Director authorize full payment of the Employee's regular salary for a period of not more than ninety days. If after ninety days the Employee is still te~nporari~y incapacitated, the Safety Director shall reccmnend to Council whether or not to continue salary. Council shall forthwith review the matter and by a majority vote determine whether the Employee shall continue to receive his full salary during recuperation. 16.2 Any Employee who qualifies for benefit under this Article shall not have his accumulated Sick heave reduced. ARTICIE XVII A schedule of salaries which is attached as Appendix A, shall form apart of, and be subject to,-all provisions of this Agreement. ARTICLE XVIII PARAN~IC PAY Each employee who is licensed by the State of Ohio as a certified paramedic shall be paid a $500 bonus on or before the 15th of December. Compensation for licensed certified paramedics runs from December 15 to December 14 of each year. It shall be calculated~on a pro rata basis for those who, dtu~lr~g the. year, retire, and for those individua]s newly hired or completing paramedic training between December 15 ar~d December 14 of each~y ~e provision of this ,article shall not be applicable to the Fire Prevention Personnel.
