JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE FIELDER <br />Nature of Work: This is a semi-skilled and limited skilled work <br />in construction,_repair and grounds at the municipal wastewater <br />pumping stations and treatment plant. <br />Work involves responsibility for assisting in the maintenance and <br />repair of equipment, machinery and related appurtenances at the <br />wastewater pumping stations and treatment plant; other duties <br />include acting as a relief operator and performing building <br />maintenance and custodial duties when required. Usually <br />maintenance work is performed under the immediate supervision of <br />an employee of a higher classification. Assignment are <br />determined by breakdowns of machinery and equipment; however, <br />routine work is performed with little direct supervision. <br />Technical assistance is readily available for help in unusual or <br />difficult problems. Work is viewed through inspections and by <br />observations of results. <br />Examples of Work: Loads and unloads heavy materials from truck; <br />moves and assists in moving heavy machinery and equipment. <br />Performs general building and grounds maintenance and custodial <br />tasks including painting; shoveling snow and repairing windows <br />when required. <br />Assists in the maintenance and repair of plant machinery and <br />equipment; such as, pumps, chlorinators, and chemical feeders; <br />installs and replaces new gauges and pressure switches on panels <br />when necessary. <br />Operates electric pumping station in emergencies; inspects <br />pumping stations as required for proper operation when required. <br />Assists operators and mechanics in the operation and repair of <br />pumping stations and treatment plant. <br />May be assigned to operate pumping station or treatment plant on <br />assigned shift for relief or emergency situations. <br />Occasionally operates light automotive equipment, such as trucks, <br />front end loaders, and tractors. <br />Subject to 24-tour call during emergency situations. <br />EXHIBIT B-8 <br />62 <br />_,, <br />.:,:.,..a.~..~,:--- <br />
