EXHIBIT B-11, cont. <br />LABORATORY TECHNICIAN <br />Conducts investigations and sampling programs of industrial waste <br />problems and wastewater flows which are of interest to the <br />municipal water pollution control program as outlined by the <br />Superintendent. <br />Performs unusual or difficult tests by setting up, taking down, <br />and cleaning chemical and bacteriological apparatus; makes <br />special analysis as assigned by superiors. <br />Subject to 24-hour call during emergency situations. <br />Performs all necessary analysis for wastewater plant performance. <br />Analyzed data is made available on a programmed schedule for <br />optimum plant performance as directed by the Superintendent or <br />Assistant Superintendent-Plant Operations. All data must be <br />tabulated immediately and kept current at all times. <br />Desirable Knowledge, Abilities and Skills <br />Considerable knowledge of the elementary principles, practices <br />and techniques of chemistry and bacteriology. <br />Considerable knowledge of modern accepted laboratory techniques <br />and methodology. <br />Considerable knowledge of the operating characteristics, adapt- <br />abilities, and maintenance requirements of basic modern chemical <br />and bacteriological laboratory apparatus. <br />Ability to follow oral and written instructions exactly and to <br />prepare routine reports on the results of laboratory tests <br />performed. <br />Skilled in laboratory manipulative techniques. <br />Eyesight sufficiently strong to permit extended microscopic work, <br />normal color perception and keen sense of smell. <br />Desirable Experience and Training <br />Some experience in the performance of standard laboratory tests <br />in a chemical or bacteriological laboratory; graduation from a <br />standard high school supplemented by the completion of approved <br />course work in laboratory techniques or related training on <br />college level. <br />70 <br />-.. <br />
