"Chapter 1721 Access Requirements for Fire Department Vehicles <br />and Fire Department Apparatus. <br />1721.01 Access to Commercial, Industrial and MultiFamily Properties. <br />Every new commercial, industrial or multifamily development <br />shall be designed and constructed so as to be accessable to fire <br />department vehicles and apparatus by way of an access roadway or <br />roadways. Such roadway or roadways must be constructed of an <br />allweather driving surface. <br />1721.02 No Obstruction of Required Roadways. <br />(A) No access roadway required for fire department vehicle <br />access shall be obstructed in any manner at any time, including <br />by the parking of vehicles upon it. <br />(B) Each owner of a commercial, industrial or multifamily <br />property, as part of any new proposed development, shall be <br />required to identify and mark fire lanes upon plans which <br />receive the approval of the fire marshal. <br />1721.03 Location of Access Roadways. <br />(A) Required access roadways shall be designed and constructed <br />so that no portion of the exterior of the first story of any <br />commercial, industrial or multifamily building is more than 150 <br />feet from an access roadway. In the event that a development is <br />proposed which has an insufficient access roadway, then the <br />developer must obtain the approval of the fire marshal for a <br />required alternate fire protection system. <br />(B) Required access roadways shall be <br />parallel to at least one entire side of <br />industrial or multifamily building.
