CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 91-133 <br />BY: MAYOR EDWARD BOYLE AND ENTIRE COUNCIL <br />AN ORDINANCE NAMING AND DESIGNATING BASEBALL <br />DIAMOND NO. 2, LOCATED IN THE NORTH OLMSTED <br />MUNICIPAL PARK, CLIFF GRADY FIELD <br />WHEREAS, this council and the administration on vary rare occasions honor one of its <br />citizens by designating either public lands or facilities as memorials to one of its citizens; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to receive such an honor, the designated citizen must be of <br />outstanding character and must have made contributions to the city that are of such a noteworthy <br />nature that for generations to come that individual will be remembered and honored by the <br />citizens of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, this council and the administration believe that Cliff Grady (Clifford W. <br />Grady) was, during his lifetime, such an outstanding and noteworthy citizen that more than 600 <br />residence of the City of North Olmsted signed petitions and presented them to the North Olmsted <br />Recreation Commission, asking that Mr. Grady be remembered by having designated in the <br />North Olmsted Municipal Park, Diamond No. 2, as Cliff Grady Field; and <br />WHEREAS, this council and the administration recognize that the following partial list <br />of accomplishments give rise to this momentous occasion to name Diamond No. 2 in the North <br />Olmsted Municipal Park as Cliff Grady Field: <br />Cliff Grady was a resident in the city of North Olmsted for 37 <br />years. In 1951, he was asked to coach and manage a group of 12 <br />high school boys who had a baseball team but, no leadership. For <br />the next two summers, he guided and nurtured the junior and <br />senior boys thru two practice nights per week and two weekly <br />games. <br />Since the early 1950's, Cliff Grady was involved with St. <br />Richard's School in the area of sports programs. He assisted in <br />organizing the St. Richard's Booster Club and worked diligently <br />to establish and sustain an all around sports program that has <br />flourished to this day. <br />In 1970, Cliff Grady organized a men's slow-pitch baseball team <br />
