ORDINANCE N0. 91-133 <br />PAGE 2 <br />which he coached and managed at North Olmsted Park for 10 <br />years. In 1989, after requests from his former team members, he <br />reactivated his team for senior men's slow-pitch involving men 55 <br />years of age and older. In 1990, Cliff Grady's team won the <br />western suburban championship which was the culmination of <br />competition among the western suburbs. <br />Other than sports, Cliff Grady distinguished himself at St. <br />Richard's Parish as an usher, was a veteran of World War II, <br />where he earned the Bronze Star for Meritorious Services; he <br />collected donations annually for hospital veterans; was a <br />distinguished member of the Knights of Columbus; he was a life- <br />time member of the Gilbert VFW Post 2533 where he donated <br />hundreds of hours of volunteer work; he was a family man with <br />six children, married to his wife, Ann, for 49 years and lastly, he <br />lived a full and complete life, one that included never refusing to <br />assist in a charitable event if requested to do so; always lending a <br />helping hand; being an active person in his church and school and <br />assuming civic responsibilities with dedication and spirit; and <br />WHEREAS, this council wishes to remember Cliff Grady not only for his endeavors in <br />the field of athletics but, wishes to dedicate Diamond No. 2 at North Olmsted Municipal Park <br />to memorialize a man who made a practice out of giving of himself to his God, his country, his <br />family and his fellow man all in the true spirit of competition that is exemplified in any athlete <br />who pursues excellence and seeks perfection. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby recognize all of the aforesaid accomplishes <br />of Cliff Grady and, in recognition thereof, does hereby declare that baseball diamond #2, located <br />in North Olmsted Municipal Park, be designated "Cliff Grady Field". <br />SECTION 2: That the Director of Public Safety be and he is hereby ordered and directed <br />to have a sign placed prominently on baseball diamond #2, located in North Olmsted Municipal <br />Park, indicating "Cliff Grady Field" to memorialize his memory. <br />SECTION 3: That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after the <br />earliest period allowed by law. <br />
