The <br />? al.ternate steward shall be recagni2ed when the regular steward is <br />absent or atherwise not availab3e. <br />Section 2. Empiayees who particiHate in meetings under Step <br />1 of the Grievanae Procedure, during their scheduled wark time, <br />or other meetinq scheduled by the City under the Grievance <br />Procedure, during the scheduled workinq time, will be paid for <br />tima aatually lost from their scheduled work time for the purpose <br />of garticipating in such meetings. The investigation and <br />processing af grievances by unian ro-prPGPntat i vc?s; duri nq wcsrki ng <br />time shall be limited ta the last fifteen minutes of a shift. <br />Section 3. The Locai Unian Grievance Committee shall <br />consist of thv President, Secretary, Chief Steward and/or Vi+c:e <br />President artd/or Steward from the department involved, but not <br />?.? <br />more than five persons. When there is a reduction in force, the <br />fallowing union offiaials sha21 bQ ratained i.n proference to all <br />other employees, provided they can perform the available work: <br />Chairperson and Stewards from City Ha1.1, Recreation, Police, <br />Duilding and Fit'iance Departments. <br />Sectian 4. In case of a suspension ar discharge or a <br />formalized disciplinary meeting the employee shall have the right <br />L-o ttave his steward present and, upon request, will be pez-mittod <br />to discuss his suspension or discharge with the steward in the <br />area made available by the City before he is required ta leave <br />the premises. WitI2in twenty-four (24) hours of the date of a <br />suspensian or discharge, the city shall deposit with the reguZar <br />U.S. Mail a certified letter to the invalved employee stating the <br />- 5 -
