EXHIBR <br />N* CHAPTER 159 <br />? <br />Arts Commission <br />159.01 CREATION, PURPOSE. <br />There is hereby established the North Olmsted Arts Commission for the purposes of <br />developing and encouraging of all forms and areas of the arts within the City for the benefit of its <br />residents, including, but not limited to, the fine arts, performing arts, and cultural arts, as well as <br />supporting and conducting events which celebrate the spirit, character, and history of the City. <br />159.02 MEMBERSHIP, APPOINTMENTS, TERMS. <br />The Arts Commission shall consist of at least seven (7) and not mare than eleven (11) <br />members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by City Council. Members shall be experienced <br />and interested in the fields of fine arts, performing arts, architecture, landscape architecture, <br />marketing, communications, graphic design or related fields. Such members shall serve without <br />compensation for staggered four-year terms. <br />159.03 CHAIRPERSON, MEETINGS AND PROCEDURES. <br />The Arts Commission shall appoint a Chairperson from its membership annually. The <br />Commission shall hold such meetings as it may require and shall designate the time and place <br />thereo£ It shall establish rules and regulations for the procedures to be used in matters submitted <br />to it for determination. A majority of its members shall constitute a quorum. <br />159.04 DUTIES. <br />It shall be the duty of the Arts Commission to develop a plan for the promotion of the arts <br />and cultural events in the City and to make recommendations to the administration and City <br />Council on the implementation of arts programs and community events. <br />(a) The Commission shall support and conduct events and entertainment which celebrate <br />the City of North Olmsted, identifying potential and necessary resources to ensure <br />programs and events are conducted in a manner that is enjoyable, safe and <br />environmentally sustainable. <br />(b) The Commission shall approve all art purchased, commissioned, or accepted as a gift <br />by the City, as well as all art proposed for placement anywhere within the public <br />right-of-way or on property owned or leased by the City. Commission approval is <br />also necessary before any art subject to their approval can be in any way altered or <br />removed. <br />(c) The Commission shall support and assist City departments and divisions in the <br />organization of community events and facilitate communications amongst organizers, <br />media and participants. <br />(d) The Commission shall develop programs and events within the City that will support <br />the community and its businesses and that will bring the City and surrounding <br />communities together.
