_..~.. <br /> <br />~- <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO.94-148 <br />BY: MAYOR BOYLE <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING NON-RESIDENT FEES AND CHARGES FOR THE <br />RENDERING OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICE AND AMBULANCE <br />TRANSPORTATION BY THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AS AMENDED . <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to establish reasonable fees and charges for <br />the rendering of emergency medical service and ambulance transportation in a manner and fashion <br />similar to those charges which are charged by other area municipal government authorities; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OffiO: <br />SECTION 1: The Mayor or his designee shall be responsible for the development of <br />collection and billing procedures including the preparation of detailed and accurate invoices listing <br />the charges for emergency medical service and ambulance transportation. All such invoices shall <br />be delivered to each person who received emergency medical service and or ambulance <br />transportation. In the case of a minor receiving emergency medical service and ambulance <br />transportation, such invoice shall be delivered to the known guardian or parent(s) of the minor. <br />The Mayor or his designee may place any delinquent account for collection <br />with the Director of Law or other person approved by ordinance at the request of the Director of <br />Law on a contingency basis. Said attorney involved in the collection of the aforesaid delinquent <br />accounts is authorized to institute legal proceedings in the Municipal Court and pursue lawful <br />proceedings in aid of execution upon any judgment. Said attorney is further authorized to settle <br />the City's claims upon whatever terms he deems appropriate, including the acceptance of <br />assignment and or the acceptance of less than the total amount owed. <br />SECTION 2: Emergency medical service and ambulance transportation shall be provided <br />by the City to the extent that manpower and equipment is available and capable of providing <br />emergency medical service or ambulance transportation. These services will be provided to the <br />extent that manpower and equipment is available and able to provide emergency medical service <br />or ambulance transportation. Such service shall be provided by the City in response to a call for <br />such service or ambulance transportation within the City, and outside the City under provisions <br />of a mutual aid agreement or applicable law governing mutual aid. <br />
