<br />CITY OF NORTH OIMS'TED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 94 - 58 <br />BY: Councilman Dean McKay <br />AN ORDIlVANCE TO AI~R~ID (~APTH32 903 FNTTTf Fn "SIDEWALKS" OF THE <br />CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THB CITY OF NORTH OIMS'~, OHIO <br />BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of North Olmsted, Cuyahoga County, <br />Ohio, that: <br />SECTION 1: Chapter 903 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted, <br />ww i~Tow reads as follows: <br />"903.01 PERMIT REQUIRED; FEES. <br />No person, except in cases of undedicated subdivisions or in streets where <br />special assessments are to be made, shall install or construct sidewalks in or on <br />any public street or highway or other public property without first obtaining a <br />permit to do so from the Service Director. <br />The Service Director shall demand and receive a fee of Fifteen Dollars <br />($15.00) before the issuance of any such permit. This amount is necessary to <br />defray the costs of administration and inspection to insure conformance of the <br />work to City specifications. <br />No portion of the fee shall be refundable. <br />903.02 CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS. <br />The following standards regarding the construction or reconstruction of <br />sidewalks within the City are hereby established: <br />(a) On local residential streets, sidewalks shall be located in the public <br />right of way so that the inner line is approximately one foot from the <br />property line. On corner lots, each sidewalk shall be extended to the <br />curb. In one-family and multi-family residential developments, <br />industrial developments and business developments, walks shall be not <br />less than five feet wide. <br />(b) Sidewalks shall be constructed of concrete four inches thick, except <br />that where they are crossed by driveways they shall not be less than six <br />inches thick. Moreover, all sidewalks shall be in accordance with other <br />City standards for construction. <br />(c) All new curbs that are authorized to be constructed under the <br />Subdivision Regulations, and all existing curbs which are part of any <br />reconstruction, shall have a ramp with a nonslip surface built into the <br />curb at each pedestrian crosswalk so that the sidewalk and street blend <br />into a common level. Such ramps shall not be less than forty inches <br />wide and shall, insofar as feasible, be constructed in accordance with <br />the standard drawings and specifications for curb ramps of the Ohio <br />Department of Transportation and the applicable provisions of the Ohio <br />Basic Building Code, which drawings, specifications and provisions are <br />hereby adopted and approved by Council and made a part hereof as though <br />fully rewritten herein. <br />
