~~ - a
APPENDIX A
SANITARY SEWER PLAN OF STUDY PHASE II
Description of Project
The project consists of Engineering Services for the City of North Olmsted to provide
recommendations and pricing for the most cost effective and highest impact solutions for
resolving problems with conveyance of storm water and wastewater during wet weather
events. The major goal is to eliminate the need for bypassing of pump stations and
manually transferring commingled storm and wastewater from the sanitary sewer system
into the storm sewer system to prevent residential basement flooding during wet weather
events.
The Engineering Firm selected will utilize the information assembled in the Plan of
Study Phase I Report. The Executive Summary defines the areas of concern and
provides potential solutions for the resolution of issues in those areas. The Engineering
Firm will not be restricted to only using the Phase I suggested solutions but can propose
alternative solutions or synthesized solutions (i.e. Phase I solutions with improvement
modifications). The idea is not to limit but to utilize the observations already made anti
arrive at proposals that can be realistically accomplished both physically and financially.
A preliminary time line has been provided in the Work Plan contained in the Phase I
Report. This should be used as a basis for keeping the project(s) on track in order to
provide Ohio EPA results that action is being taken to resolve this issue.
