.~. <br />.~ <br />SYSTEMS MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN <br />Appe ndix $-1; <br />Nature of Work <br />This is responsible semi-skilled technical and manual labor work of <br />a demanding nature. <br />Work involves inspection by visual and mechanical procedures as well <br />as repair by approved methods of sewers and other conduits of this nature <br />' as directed by the Systems Foreman, Assistant Superintendent - Systems, or <br />Superintendent. <br />Examples of Work <br />Participates in the work of a crew engaged in cleaning and inspection <br />of sanitary and/or storm sewers and other conduits related to the area of <br />assignment. <br />Operates a variety of inspection and maintenance equipment;-such as, <br />TV cameras, monitors, grouting equipment, and other machines and equipment <br />as required and as a neces sa ry adjunct to no rma 1 duties . <br />Keeps records of all work performed; reports need for materials and <br />equipment where and when needed. <br />Assists Systems Foreman i n repai rs to assigned equipment. <br />Work can be characterized by assignment to rotating shifts where <br />needed or as ordered by the Superintendent. <br />Responsible for automatic equipment used daily in performance with <br />schedules set up by Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent - Systems, or <br />Systems Foreman . <br />Subject to 24-hour call during emergency situations. <br />Performs related work as required. <br />Desirable Knowledge, Abilities and Skills <br />Considerable knowledge of tools, materials, methods, and modern tech- <br />niques commonly used in pub lie works, sewer construction, and maintenance <br />activities. <br />Considerable knowledge of hazards and safety precautions necessary in <br />sewer and maintenance work. <br />Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with <br />other employees and the general public. <br />Ability to participate in the work of mechanical maintenance and per- <br />forming varied tasks and to obtain effective results. <br />Physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous manual <br />labor for extended periods under va rying weather conditions. <br />i <br />._ <br /> <br />-172- <br />
