LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (Cont.) <br />SubJect to 24-hour call during emergency situations. <br />Performs all necessary analysis for wastewater plant performance. <br />Analyzed data is made available on a programed schedule for optimum plant <br />performance as directed by the Superintendent or Assistant Superlntendent- <br />Plant Operations. All data must be tabulated immediately and kept current <br />at all times. <br />Desirable Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills <br />Considerable knowledge of the elementary principles, practices, and <br />techniques of chemistry and bacteriology. <br />Considerable knowledge of rtndern accepted laboratory techniques and <br />methodology. <br />Considerable knowledge of the operating characteristics, adaptabilities, <br />and maintenance requirements of basic modern chemical and bacteriological <br />laboratory apparatus . <br />Ability to follow oral and written instructions exactly and to prepare <br />routine reports on the results of 1 aboratory tests performed. <br />Skill in laboratory manipulative techniques. <br />Eyesight sufficiently strong to permit extended microscopic work, <br />normal color perception and keen sense of smell. <br />Desirable Experience and Training <br />Some experience in the performance of standard laboratory tests in <br />a chemical or bacteriological -laboratory; graduation from a standard high <br />school supplemented by the completion of approved course work in laborato ry <br />techniques or related training on college level. <br />-159- <br />
