~~~ ; <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMST D <br />ORDINANCE N0. 76 - ~Z- <br />Page 3 <br />1 to 5 years inclusive of full-time service - two weeks <br />6 to 11 years inclusive of full-time service - three weeks <br />12 to 19 years inclusive of full-time service - four weeks <br />20 years and over of full time service - five weeks <br />For the purpose of a vacation week, a week shall be defined as seven <br />consecutive days off. All vacation time shall be paid at the <br />regular salary rate. If due to scheduling, vacations cannot be <br />taken in the year earned and are accumulated and taken in the next <br />subsequent year, the rate of vacation pay shall be the rate of <br />pay during the year taken provided the same is first approved by <br />the Safety Director. <br />H. For the purpose of this ordinance, the following provisions <br />apply with respect to hours worked and conditions of employment: <br />tNORK SCHEDULE AND OVERTIME <br />1. The regular work schedule for Fire Prevention personnel shall <br />consist of five (5) consecutive eight (8) hour days, Monday through <br />Friday. Firefighting platoon personnel shall have an average of <br />a fifty-six (56) hour duty week consisting of twenty-four (24) <br />hour shifts on a three (3) platoon basis. <br />2. Normal hours for employees working a forty (40) hour week <br />shall be from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. These schedules are <br />subject to adjustment by the Chief. <br />3. Any time worked in excess o.f eight (8) hours a day and any <br />time worked in excess of forty (40) hours a week, or in the case <br />of firefighting platoon personnel, any time worked in excess of <br />twenty-four (24) hours in a seventy-two (72) hour period shall <br />be considered overtime. All employees, except the Chief of the <br />Department, shall be compensated for authorized overtime work at <br />a rate of time and a half of the regular rate of pay. The Chief <br />will be the determining authority on the necessity for overtime. <br />When compensatory time is desired, the employee will determine, <br />subject to the approval of the Chief, when time will be taken. <br />The minimum time to callback shall be for two (2) hours. <br />4. Compensatory time cannot be transferred from one employee to <br />another employee. <br />I. In the event that a member of the Fire Department of the city <br />of North Olmsted should be injured while in the line of duty due to <br />a sudden and accidental occurrence and such injury has so incapacitated <br />said member of the Fire Department that he is temporarily unable to <br />work, then the Director of Public Safety, after determining that said <br />injury is work related and is of a temporary nature, may authorize full <br />payment of the employee's regular salary for a period of not more than <br />ninety (90) days. If after said 90 day period, said employee is still <br />temporarily incapacitated, then the Director of Public Safety shall <br />recommend to Council whether or not to continue said salary. Council <br />shall forthwith review the matter and by majority vote determine whether <br />the employee shall continue to receive his full salary during recuperation. <br />For the purpose of this paragraph, sudden and accidental injury <br />shall include such incidents as injury resulting from an automobile <br />accident; smoke inhalation; burns; falling debris or collapse of building, <br />and the like. It shall not be considered as sudden or accidental an <br />injury or incapacity resulting from the lifting of objects, slipping, <br />tripping or falling, heart failure or heart attack. <br /> <br />
