<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 76 -/.~i~ <br />Page 4 <br />relating to changes in the Revised Code or tie Ohio Uniform Rules <br />of Criminal Procedure. It shall. however. be antironriate to pay <br />the overtime rate to employees who participate in specialty programs <br />requiring training at times other than the employees' regular tour <br />or duty and further that said programs have been designated by the <br />Chief of Police as one for which the overtime rate will be paid. <br />M. Any employee who qualifies for overtime by virtue of the <br />provisions of paragraphs K and L hereof shall be paid a minimum of <br />two hours when required to report for extra duty over and above <br />his regular work day and work week. Said employees shall also be <br />paid a minimum of two hours for appearances at the Rocky River <br />Municipal Court and a minimum of four hours for appearances at the <br />Grand Jury or Common Pleas Court when the same is required and is <br />at a time other than the employee's regular work tour. Effective <br />January 1, 1977, the compensation for the aforesaid hours of credit <br />will be at time a one half (1 1/2). <br />N. Any time a patrolman is required to temporarily take charge <br />of a shift command, said patrolman shall be paid a premium of one <br />additional hour at a straight time rate for each day he is required <br />to do so. <br />0. In the event that a member of the Police Department of the <br />City of North Olmsted should be injured while in the line of duty <br />due to a sudden and accidental occurence and such injury has so <br />incapacitated said member of the Police Department that he is <br />temporarily unable to work, then the Director of Public Safety after <br />determining that said injury is work related and is of a temporary <br />nature may authorize full payment of the employee's regular salary <br />for a period of not more than ninety days. If after said ninety <br />day period said employee is still temporarily incapacitated, then <br />the Director of Public Safety shall recommend to Council whether <br />or not to continue said salary. Council shall forthwith review the <br />matter and by majority vote determine whether the employee shall <br />continue to receive his full salary during recuperation. <br />For the purposes of this paragraph a sudden and accidental injury <br />shall include such incidents as an automobile accident, assault and <br />battery, gun shot waund and the like. It shall not be considered <br />as sudden and accidental if injury or capacity results from the <br />lifting of objects, slipping, tripping or falling, heart failure <br />or heart attack. <br />Any member of the department who qualifies for benefits under <br />paragraph 0 hereof shall be required to pay over to the City any <br />amounts received from the Bureau of Workman's Compensation as <br />supplemental wages. Further, if at any time the City determines <br />on the basis of medical evidence that an employee is permanently <br />disabled and will no longer be able to carry on his duties then <br />the City may terminate payments and insist that the employee go on <br />a pension program. Any employee who qualifies for the benefits under <br />this paragraph shall not have his accumulated sick time reduced because <br />of a qualified accidental injury which occurred while in the line <br />of duty. <br />t~.~ rte., .,, , . . ~ ~~ ,, 1~.~. ~ .. ~. , . <br />
