<br /> <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 74 - // I~ <br />~• <br />BY: <br />ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING <br />THE SUBMISSION TO THE ELECTORS OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED OF A PROPOSAL TO <br />AMEND ARTICLE IX, SECTION 2 OF THE CHARTER <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, this Council desires to have the municipal primary <br />election day held at the same time as that designated by the State <br />of Ohio, and has determined that the Charter of the City of North <br />Olmsted governing municipal primary election days should be revised, <br />and this Council desires to submit this suggested amendment to the <br />electors of the City of North Olmsted at the General Election to <br />be held November 5, 1974. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTID, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council hereby authorizes and directs <br />the submission to the electors of the City of North Olmsted at the <br />General Election to be held at the usual places of voting of said City <br />on Tuesday, November 5, 1974, between the hours as provided by law, <br />of the following proposal to amend the Charter of the City of North <br />Olmsted by amending Article IX, Section 2 as follows: <br />ARTICLE IX <br />SECTION 2. PRIMARY ELECTIONS. <br />On the first Tuesday after the first Monday in June in odd- <br />numbered years, primary elections shall be held for the purpose of <br />nominating persons as candidates of political parties for election <br />to offices to be voted for at the next succeeding general election. <br />SECTION 2: That the foregoing proposed amendment, upon receiving <br />at least a majority of the votes cast thereon at the November 5, 1974 <br />General Election shall become effective immediately. <br />SECTION 3: That upon the effective date of such proposed amend- <br />ment as provided in Section 2 of this ordinance, the corresponding <br />numbered section of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted which <br />is presently in effect shall be repealed. <br />SECTION 4: That the ballot submitting the question of the adoption <br />of the aforesaid amendment shall read as follows: <br />PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage. <br />Shall Article IX, Section 2 of the Charter of the City of <br />North Olmsted be amended as follows: <br />. __q.,: <br />
