CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO . 7 5 - ~~'O <br />BY: ~/ ~ \.r/~ <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE <br />ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTID OF CERTAIN <br />AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CHARTER REVIEW <br />COMMISSION.., <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission of the City of North <br />Olmsted, appointed pursuant to Article XIV of the Charter of the <br />City of North Olmsted, has filed its report of recommended amend- <br />ments to the Charter with this Council; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That this Council hereby authorizes and. directs the <br />submission to the electors of the City of North Olmsted at an elec- <br />tion to be held at the usual places of voting in said City on Tuesday, <br />November 4, 1975, the following separate proposals to amend the <br />Charter of the City of North Olmsted: <br />Proposal l: That Section 1 of Article III of the Charter rela- <br />ting to the office of Mayor be amended to increase the term of office <br />from two (2) to four (4) years, such amended Section 1 of Article III <br />to read as follows: <br />"ARTICLE III <br />The Mayor <br />SECTION 1• Term <br />Commencing with the regular municipal election in the year <br />1977, and every fourth (4th) year thereafter, the Mayor <br />shall be elected for a term of four (4) years. His term <br />shall commence and he shall assume office on the first <br />day of January next following such electioh ." <br />Proposal 2: That Section I and 2 of Article IV of the Charter <br />relating to the Council be amended to increase the term of office <br />from two (2) to four (4) years and to require a Ward Councilman be <br />a resident of the ward from which he is elected at Least one (1) <br />year immediately prior to the date of his election, such amended <br />Sections 1 and 2 of Article IV to read as follows: <br />"ARTICLE IV <br />The Council <br />SECTION 1• <br />Number and Terms <br />All legislative powers of this City, except as otherwise <br />provided by this Charter and by the Constitution of the <br />State of Ohio, shall be vested in a Council of seven (7) <br />members, four (4) of whom shall be elected by the several <br />
