MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />AUGUST 1, 1g61 - 8:07 P.M. <br />Present were Paul J. Gareau, Mayor; Bruce MacDonald, President of Council; <br />Henry Caster, Ralph Christman, Dewey Limpert, Francis J. O'Neill, George Porter. <br />Also present were Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director; C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor; <br />Eleanor Ruple, Deputy Clerk of Council. <br />Absent: A. L. Mangani, Lillian Nicholas, Alex Kanareff, Engineer; William <br />Gerlach, Finance Director; J. T. Wilson, Safety Director; Louise Hall, Clerk <br />of Council. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of July 18, 1g61 were approved as written. <br />In the absence of the Safety Director, the Mayor reported on the activity of <br />the Dog Warden for the months of June and July. <br />The Mayor reported concerning the East Ohio Gas increase and wished to hear <br />Council's feelings as to joining the other communities to fight the increase. <br />No action will be taken until after the Mayor's Association meeting in August. <br />In the absence of the Engineer, the. Clerk read the following communications: <br />1. A letter approving the improvement plans of Nancy Drive in the <br />Engoglia subdivision conditioned upon an easement being furnished the <br />City for an outlet over Sub Lot #4, Terrace Drive or a parcel north <br />of Terrace Drive over the County parcel. <br />2. A letter approving the improvement plans of the Michael Varady <br />Subdivision conditioned upon an easement being furnished the City for <br />a storm sewer outlet at the North end of the subdivision and that <br />approval of the paving plan is contingent on the dedication of a <br />sixty (60) foot street by the church on the North line of the subdivision. <br />That basementless homes be constructed north of Elm Road due to shallow <br />storm sewer. If basements are desirable footing drains should be sumped <br />outside of basement in a seperate wet well. <br />3~ A letter approving the plans of the Candelight Subdivision subject to <br />a clarification of dedication on twenty-five (25) feet of Hawkins Ave. <br />thru the Leroy Harris property and the contribution by Mr. Harris for the <br />improvement with that portion of the street. <br />4. A letter proposing the Burns, Porter drainage alternate. <br />Resolution No. 61 - 130 was given its third and final reading. A resolution <br />of the City Council of the City of North Olmsted, Ohio imploring all Patriotic <br />Americans to awaken and to fight all Communistic Activity. It was moved by <br />Mr. Mangani, seconded by Mr. Limpert the resolution be adopted as read. The <br />affirmative vote thereon was as follows: Caster, Christman, Limpert, O'Neill, <br />Porter. <br />Resolution No. 61 - 142 was introduced by Mr. Caster. A resolution declaring <br />the intention of Council to appropriate certain easements for the construction <br />of sewers. The resolution was given its first reading only. <br />Ordinance No. 61 - 143 was introduced by Mr. Christman. An Ordinance amending <br />section 4 of ordinance 3158 enacted November 15, 1g60, entitled "Ordinance to <br />regulate the use of public and private sewers and drains, private sewage disposal, <br />installation and connection of building sewers, and the discharge of waters and <br />wastes into the public sewerage system. The ordinance was given its first <br />reading only. <br />Resolution No. 61 - 144 was introduced by Mr. Christman. A resolution authorizing <br />the Service Director to employ the City Engineer to study the cost of providing <br />storm drain pipe to the rear of Evelyn Drive and other streets, The resolution <br />was given its first reading only. <br />
