FEBRUARY 21, 1861 - PAGE 4
It was Council's belief that under all of the circumstances that the
recommendation of the consulting engineers should be followed and thereupon
authorized the preparation of Ordinance No. 61-26 which was passed by said
Council. Subsequently an inspection of said site and plant was made by
members of Council, accompanied by the Director of Public Service, the Mayor
and representatives of Floyd G. Browne & Associates, consulting engineers.
The Council, after examination of the premises and the discussions had
with the administrative officials of the City and the consulting engineers,
deem it for the best interests of the City to adopt the recommendation made
by the consulting engineers and recommend to the Director of Public Service
that he reconsider the position .taken and that he request Floyd G. Browne
and Associates to restore and retain the services of said inspector for the
recommended time expiring April 1, 1861. In the opinion of Council such
inspection is necessary and in view of the amount of unfinished work and the
cost of the overal contract, that the dismissal of the inspector involved,
is not in the best interest of the City and taxpayers. Such dismissal may
also involve future contractual relations and liabilities of all parties
concerned in the event said plant and system does not perform in accordance
with the rigid specifications heretofore established for performance."
Mrs. Nicholas and Mr. Mangani requested that their approval of the
retention of this engineer also appear as a matter of record.
Resolution No. 61-37 was introduced by Mr. Mangani.
