MINUTES OF THE FETING OF COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />JULY 19, 1960 - 8:21 P.M. <br />Present were Henry Caster, Ralph Christman, Dewey Limpert, A. L. Mangani~ <br />Lillian Nicholas, Francis J. O~Neill, George H. Porter III. <br />Also present were LLoyd E. Barnes, Service Director; James T. Wilson, Safety <br />Director] C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor; Alex Kanareff, Engineer] Wiliam L. Gerlach, <br />Auditor and Eleanor Ruple, Assistant Clerk. <br />Absent were Mayor Paul J. Gareau and President of Council Bruce MacDonald. <br />In the absence of Bruce MacDonald, Francis J. O~Neill took the chair as <br />President of Couneil. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of the Council, July 5, 1960, were approved. <br />as corrected. <br />The minutes of the adjourned meeting of council, July 12, 1960, were approved <br />as corrected. <br />A motion was made by Mr. Porter, seconded by Mr. Limpert to excuse Mr. O~Neill~s <br />absence from the July 12th, 1960 meeting of Council. "YeasF~ Caster, Christman., <br />Limpert, ;~ia.ngani, Dicholas, 0 ~ Neill, Porter. <br />The Service Director read a letter from Floyd Browne & Associates regarding <br />the changing of the sewer on Coe Ave. He also read a letter from Floyd Browne <br />and Associates regarding the hiring and fixing the compensation of an inspector <br />before the trunk line bids are advertised for. Floyd Browne and Associates <br />suggested two ways this can be done (1) that north Olmsted hire the inspector <br />vaith qualifications approved by Floyd Browne or (2) that Floyd Browne hire an <br />inspector who must be a resident of the City, that the City would reimburse <br />them, with the City reserving the right to dismiss the inspector if proved <br />unsatisfactory. Floyd Browne and Associates are willing to amend their <br />contract if ~dorth Olmsted desires to hire the inspector. <br />The Safety Director reported the new eligibility list had been hosted for <br />patrolmen with 52 to 58 passing. <br />The Safety Director also reported the bid for the transistor radios was <br />awarded to Motorola. <br />The Engineer requests that the Streets and Sidewalk Committee review the <br />sidewalk ordinance which at present requires steel forms only that are <br />sometimes unobtainable and recommends the ordinance be amended to read <br />steel or wood frames. <br />The following communications were read by the Clerk: <br />(1) A letter from Richard i~ongello, secretary of the Planning <br />Commission, requesting a joint meeting of the Commission and Council to <br />hear a report of Regional Planning, Thursday, July 21st, 1960 at 8:00 P. M. <br />(2) A letter from Fire Chief Earl Donaldson inviting the Council <br />to hear a talk by Dr. Ryan of Berea on "Arson~T, at fire station #2, Thursday <br />evening, July 21, 1960 at 8:00 P. M. <br />(3) A letter from Richard I~Iongello, secretary of the Planning <br />Commission regarding his opinion for the construction of an outdoor toilet <br />facilities for North Olmsted Park. <br />(Ii.} A lamer from Albert Dansberg, Acting Secretary of the Board <br />of Building Code Appeals advising that the Board of Building Code Appeals <br />recommends that the Regional Building Code, prepared by the Regional Planning <br />Commission be adopted as soon as possible. <br />(5) A letter from Albert Dansberg, Acting Secretary of the Board of <br />Building Code Appeals advising the Board of Building Code Appeals recommends <br />that all sewer work in concrete slab dwellings be of cast iron, leaded joints, <br />extending three feet beyond buildings. <br />
