~!IINtTTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />MAY 17, 1960 •- 8 r02 P.M. <br />Present were Paul J. Gareau, Mayor; Bruce MacDonald, President of Council; Henr:° <br />Caster, Ralph Christnsan~ Dewey Limpert~, A. L. Mangani~ Lillian Nicholas, Franels <br />J. OsNei13.~ George H. Porter. <br />Also present were Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director; James T. Wilson, Safety <br />Director; Alex Kanareff~ Engineer; William Geryach, Auditor; and Louise Hall,, <br />Clerk. <br />Absent: C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of the Council May 3, 1960 and the adjourned <br />meeting of May 10~ 1960 were approved as written. <br />The Mayor stated that the estimated budget for 1961 for the City must be filed <br />by July 16, 1960 and that there must be a Public Hearing ten days prior to <br />that date. He stated that he expected to have the budget set up before the <br />end of June for Councilts approval. <br />The Service Director reported that work on the Clague Rd. culvert will start <br />May 1$~ 1960 and that work on the fail had been held up because of a delay in <br />delivery `of the Gelb but that delivery will be made May 20, 1960. <br />The Service Director requested that Council consider the approval of plans <br />for a Comfort Station at the City Park. This matter was txarned over to the <br />Municipal Properties Committee. <br />The Safety Director requested help of Council for planning F~All Scouts Day« on <br />June 11th. <br />The Safety Director requested the Safety Committee to consider the possibility <br />of cutting back the safety island at the intersection of Brookpark and Lorain <br />Roads. This request was turned over to the Safety Committee for consideration. <br />The Engineer reported that the specifications for resurfacing of the streets <br />Decker Rd. paving, Lorain Rd. sidewalks and Canterbury Rd. sidewalks are ready <br />for advertising for bids. <br />The Clerk read the following communications <br />1. A letter from Thomas F. Murdock~~513 Canterbury Rd. pertaining <br />to ,the water situation resulting from the Par Three Golf Course <br />drainage into Mr. Murdockss yard. This matter was referred to <br />the Streets Committee and the Engineer. <br />2. A letter from F. Ross E11is to Hammon & Nouzak~ paving <br />contractors, in reference to the paving of Sweetbrier Drive. <br />qtr,. Mangani~ Plats Committee, reported on their meeting of May 7.l.~th regarding the <br />Sherwood Subdivision and the Candelight Subdivision. <br />Mr. OsNeill~ Finance Committee, reported their approval of the request for change <br />in Ordinance No. 2785 covering the wages of the Service Department except for Street <br />Commissioner which they are making a further check on. <br />A"s. OsNeill also stated that the Committee recommends the installation of <br />a KVA transformer at the City Park. <br />Mr. OtNeill~ Transportation Committee, reported that the Committee held a <br />meeting with Fairview on May 12th and as he was unable to attend Mrs. Nicholas <br />gave thezeport on this meeting. The Fairview Transportation Committee presented <br />a favorable report to the Council of the City of Fairview Park, but the Chairman <br />of Council felt that an important matter such as this should be discussed <br />with Council as a whole. <br />
