MINtTTES OF THE MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED~ OHIO <br />MAY 4, 1960 <br />Present were Paul J. Gareau~ Mayor; Bruce MacDonalds President of Councils Henry <br />Casters Ralph Christman Dewey Limpert, A.L, Mangani~ Lillian Nicholas Francis <br />J. OrNeill, George H. Porter, <br />Also present were Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director; James T. Wilson Safety <br />Director; C.J. Oviatt, Solicitor; Alex Kanareff~ Engineer; William Gerlach <br />Auditor; and Louise Halls Clerk. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of the Council April 19, 1960 were approved <br />as corrected, <br />The Mayor issued the following proclamations: <br />June 11~ 1960 ~ All Scouts Day <br />May 2ltth to July ltth ~ ©ehicle Safety#Checsk <br />The Mayor stated that he had received a communication from Bakery Hostetler and <br />Patterson in reference to the decision of the Board of Tax Appeals and that as <br />it is qui.ite lengthy it would be available for Council to read at their convenience. <br />The Service Director reported that the work on the Sewer Plant is progressing as <br />scheduled. <br />The Service Director stated that a member of the School Board had contacted <br />him in regards to drainage condition on Butternut Ridge Road at the High School <br />and grade school stating that the School Board would pay half of the cost of this <br />improvement. This matter was turned over to the Streets, Sidewalks Sewers & <br />Ditches Committee for further consideration. <br />The Service Director requested authority to advertise for bids for material needed <br />for the resurfacing of various roads within the City. <br />The Service Director stated that he will attend a negotiating meeting with a <br />Committtee from the Bus Drivers on May 17, 1960 at 7 P.M. <br />The Service Director reported that he had been receiving complaints from residents <br />of Sweetbriar regarding paving of the street. The Engineer stated that he had <br />been unable to contact anyone and suggested the contractor be given 30 days to <br />complete this fob. The Solicitor was instructed to write to the contractor <br />advising him of this time limit, <br />The Safety Director reported on the activities of the Dog Rarden~ Building <br />Departments Fire and Police Departments for the month of April and the <br />Municipal Court for March. <br />The Engineer requested that Council consider passing legislation making it <br />necessary that a bond be posted at the time of approval of subdivisions for <br />final completion of subdivisions for protection of the City. <br />The Engineer presented each member of Council with a complete report on 8«6-8 <br />plain concrete pavement for their study. <br />The Engineer presented plans for Candelite subdivison. The plans were turned over <br />to the Streets Sidewalks Sewers, & Ditches Committes and the Engineer is to <br />meet with the Committee in regards to this subdivision. <br />The Clerk read the following communications: <br />1. A letter from Arthur R. Barrette 1959 Midway Chairman North <br />Olmsted Homecomings regarding a better method of providing <br />electricty to the midway and booths for the 1960 Homecoming: <br />2. A letter from S. H. Benuska pertaining to rezoning of the <br />Brookpark area. <br />3. A letter from North Olmsted Jaycees, Inc. per~caining to <br />access point for Brookpark Rd, <br />Mr. O~Neill moved, seconded by MrN~mpert, that the Solicitor be directed to <br />write a letter of congratulations to 0ldrich J, Korab on his appointment as Right <br />Reverend Monsignor. nYeas" Caster, Christman Limpert~ Mangani~ Nicholas O~Neill~ <br />Porter. <br />
