MINUTES OF THE MEETINf~ OF THE COUNCIL <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OIMSTED, OHIO <br />MARCH 15, 1960 « 8s08 P.M. <br />Present were Paul d. aareau~ Mayor; Bruce MacDonald, President of Council; Henry <br />Caster, Ralph Christman, Dewey Limpsrt~ A. L. Mangani~ Lillian Nicholas Francis <br />J. OsNeill, George H. Porter. <br />Also present ~rer~e Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director: James T. Wilson, Safety <br />Director; C. J. 0viatt, Solicitor; Alex Nanareff, Engineer; William Gerlach <br />Auditor; and Louise Hall, Clerk. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting of the Council March 1~ 1960 were approved <br />as written. <br />The Mayor reported that he had received a communication from the State Highway <br />Department regarding parking ban on Lorain Road which, he understands, is <br />being taken Bare of. <br />The Mayor also reported receiving a communication from The Chamber of Coerce <br />requesting information as to the disposition of the petition for a traffic <br />light at Lucydale and Lorain Rd. <br />The Mayor reported that he had received the annual National Police nWALKER <br />SAFETY AWARDp issued in the name of our Police Department and that presentation <br />of the award to Chief Christman would be made next Council Meeting as the Chief <br />was not at this meeting. This award is given in recognition of a decrease in <br />traffic deaths or injuries during the year of 1959. <br />The Safety Director reported on the activity of the Fire Department for the <br />month of February. <br />The Safety Director also stated that he had attended a meeting with the Safety <br />Committee and that the Chairman of that committee would make the report of <br />their decisions. <br />The Engineer reported that there are sufficient signatures on the ~ie#a:tions for <br />the water :gain on Brc~okpark 8~ctension and also on the petitions for rezoning <br />of Lorain Road - north and south sides -from Ba~ile~T Road to Columbia Road <br />and from Ranchview west to the existing business district from multiple residence <br />to retail business. <br />The Clerk read the following communications: <br />1. A letter from Hayden Miller & Co. in reference to the <br />financing of the sewer program. <br />2. A letter from A.C. Findlay of The Union Savings & Lt-.an <br />Company regarding the possibility of rezoni:g of Brookpark <br />Road between Fleharty and Columbia Rd, from limited industrial <br />to multiple dwellings. <br />3. A letter from Junior Chamber of Commerce containing statistics <br />pertaining to their position regarding the land that is presently <br />zoned for industrial use. <br />,mar- Mr. OtNeill reported for the Transportation Co~unittee that they had met <br />~- with Fairview on February 17th regarding the e~nsian,of the Bus franchise <br />and the increase in fares necessary to purchase new equipment and that <br />Fairview wanted to check with CTS and would advise the Committee of their <br />decision but as yet nothing has been received from they.. <br />Mr. Porter reported for the Safety Committee that the Police Depa~kment is <br />making a check on the need for a caution light at Coe and Lorain and also <br />that Chief Christman does not feel that a light is needed at Lucydale and <br />Lorain but would run another check under better weather conditions. <br />
