<br />The Solicitor reported he had contacted the City of Cleveland 'dater Depart-
<br />ment and was advised Mr. Kohler had been recalled to prepare rules and
<br />procedures to be followed, which will be brought up to date with the
<br />various acts of State legislation. It was suggested that areas such as
<br />the Garden City area, it might be possible to put in a package treatment
<br />plant rather than the proposed lift station. It would be less expensi~~e
<br />and sewerage rental charges could be collected and water lines could be
<br />installed. Relief for that particular area insofar as water lines contingent
<br />upon sewerage facilities other than lift stations will be pursued further.
<br />Mr. C'Neill reported he had attended the Governor's Conference on Children
<br />and Youth, in Columbus, and that the discussions pertained to activities
<br />for the young people under qualified supervision, which is basically what
<br />is being done for the youth in this area to keep down delinquency, and that
<br />our City should be commended for its low percentage of delinquency.
<br />Several residents of Clague Road appeared before Council to enter complaints
<br />against the parking of trucks at the Glen Limpert property. The police
<br />Department is to make an investigation and submit a report to the Safety
<br />Director.
<br />Ordinance No. 2958-was introduced by P:r. O'Neill. An ordinance consenting;
<br />to the maintenance and repair of certain streets and roads by the Board of
<br />County Commissioners of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, for the year 1960. It was
<br />moved by Mr. O'Neill, seconded by Mrs. Hinkel, that the statutory rule
<br />be suspended and the ordinance be read immediately the second and third
<br />times and I,ut on its passage. The affirmative vote on said motion was
<br />as follows: R. Chris6man, iiinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill,
<br />Thereupon, the ordinance was read the second and third times and put upon
<br />i_ts passage and the affirmative vote thereon was as follows: R. Christman,
<br />Hinkel, Hixson, I~>ramer, Lynch, :uiacDor.ald, O'Neill.
<br />Mr. P~acDonald reported complaints from the residents of Fitch Road have
<br />been received relative to the excessive mounding of the road and the present
<br />width of the road, which cre~?tes a very dangerous and hazardous condition.
<br />The matter was referred to the Service Director„
<br />Resolution No. 2959 was introduced by Mrs. FIinkel, A resolution of Council
<br />expressing its opposition to the proposed construction of a downtown subway
<br />in the City of Cleveland, and declaring an emergency. It was moved by Mrs.
<br />Hinkel, seconded by Mrs. Lyr_ch, ths.t the statutory rule be suspended and
<br />the resolution be read immediately the second and third times and put on
<br />.its passage and the affirmative vote on said motion was as follows:

<br />Resolution No. 2960 was introduced by Mr. R. Christman. A resolution
<br />requesting the Engineer to prepare plans, profiles, specifications and
<br />estimates for the improvement of Canterbury Road from Lorain Road Northerly
<br />to the Northerly City Line by installing a five foot concrete public side-
<br />walk on both sides thereof. It was moved by Mr, R. Christman, seconded
<br />b;~ Mrs. Hinkel, that the resolution be adopted as read. "Yeas" R. Christman,
<br />Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill.
<br />Resolution No. 2961 was introduced by Mr. R. Christman. A resolution
<br />declaring it necessary to improve Canterbury Road from Lorain Road northerly
<br />to the northerly city limits, by constructing therein a five foot concrete
<br />public sidewalk on both sides thereof. The resolution was given its first
<br />reading only.
<br />The Mayor expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of the outgoing
<br />Councilmen and congratulated the Clerk and Auditor for the long years
<br />of service and recommended resolutions of commendation be prepared in
<br />recognition of such service.
<br />Resolution No. 2962 was introduced by IRr. O'Neill. A resolution commending
<br />E. M. Christman, Auditor,and Councilmen who are leaving public office
<br />December 31, 1959, and declaring an emergency*. It was moved by Nr. O'Neill
