SEPTEMBER 1, 1959 - - PAGE 2 <br />Lorain Road Storm Sewer - The Engineer advised that the 12" storm <br />sewer has a capacity limited to removing surface water and if additiona,I <br />impervious water is permitted tv drain into it, the sewer may be over-taxed. <br />He specified recent exemplea where permission was requested - CEI, Manners <br />Drive-In and the proposed Hi-Fy station which would be boated in the Porter <br />& Lorain Road area. He emphasized the fact that if all impervious water is <br />stopped from entering the storm sewer, further commercial development on <br />Lorain road will be prohibited. <br />The Clerk read a oommunioation from the Board of Elections relative to a <br />special registration to be conducted on September 15th. Tha hours will be <br />from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. and from 4:00 P.M. until 9s00 P.M. and the <br />cost of the registration will be charged back to the municipality. The <br />Mayor advised that due to the increase in population the registration was <br />considered advisable and it will be held at three stratsgim points, namely: <br />Coe School, Noxth Olmsted Congregational Church and the City Hall. The <br />Clerk read a letter relative to the meeting of the County Budget Committee <br />on September 4th and the Mayor extended an invitation to the entire ad- <br />ministration to attend. <br />Mr. O'Neill, Transportation Committee, advised that an increase in the wages <br />of the Bus Superintendent and the Bus Inspector had been discussed with the <br />Service Direotor; and, although he concurred with the Director, hs stated <br />that he wished to discuss the matter with the other committee memoera before <br />arriving at a decision. Mrs. Hinkel and Mr. Kramer are to be con.tactsd and <br />a report made. <br />Ths bond of Ohio Shores Construction Company, covering sidewalk installation <br />on Subdivision No. 4, Ambour Drive, was submitted to the Engineer. <br />Mr. MacDonald, Streets, Sidewalks, Sewers & Ditches Committee, reported that <br />the problem relative to the Springvale & Froelich properties had oulminated <br />in a meeting on September let and both parties were accompanied by legal <br />advisors. 6nothsr meeting is scheduled for September 22nd and a compromise <br />is expected to be reached on that date and council will be advised accordingly. <br />Mr. MacDonald advised that he and Mr. Wilson had made a visual inspection <br />relative to ~mbour Drive drainage and they also had checked Westlawn, Oakdale, <br />Holly Drive and Aspen. With regard to Ohio Farms Subdivision No. 2, a letter <br />was directed to Mr. Sinchen to the effect that no further aotiors could be <br />taken by committee, until plans are submitted to Floyd Browns and returned <br />to committee. <br />In connection with the report of Mrs. Van 9xsdale (Council Meeting of <br />August 1$th} the Engineer was requested to make an investigation as to the <br />exact extent of dedication on Canterbury Road. <br />The Service Director was xequested to advise as to whether or not a communica- <br />tion was forwarded to the bonding compas~v xelative to Monson-Williams. <br />The letter was read to Council and the Director stated that the bonding <br />company is willing to comply but they were under the impression that the <br />contractor who is to pave Sweetbrier was also to repair Maria Lane. He <br />stated that sufficient time has passed and action should be forthcoming. <br />It was moved by Mr. MacDonald, seconded by Mr. Wilson, that the bonding <br />company be contacted with regard to taking action on Maria Lane and 3weetbriar. <br />"Yeas" Hixaon, Lynch, MacDonald, O~l~ei11, Wilson. <br />Mr. MacDonald advised that he had received information that the Government <br />had approved the allocation of X250,000 for the sewerage treatment plant <br />but that the approval was contingent upon letting some contracts by November <br />1st. The Mayor stated that hs had spoken to Hayden-Miller and that he was <br />of the opinion that legislation would bs necessary by ]~ovsmber 1st, but not <br />actual oontraota, <br />Mr. Ellie addressed Council and stated that a Dopy of Engineer~a report, <br />relative to Sweetbrier Drive, had been received and they were apprised of <br />their responsibilities if ownership is assumed. They are attempting to get <br />bids and within a few days they should have reached a determination. <br />2 - <br />
