<br />T~ir. Michael J. Korinka, Builder, appeared before Council relative to the
<br />undeveloped portion of Decker 3oad, on which he is now building houses.
<br />He had spent approximately $900.00 to slag the road. It was suggested
<br />he petition the property owners and get it paved and assess the property
<br />owners for the paving. No one is living there at the present time, or
<br />using the road, with the exception of the builder. The matter was referred
<br />to the Streets, Sewers and Ditch Committee to come up with a recommendation.
<br />Messrs. Barry & (Walsh, residents of Georgette Avenue, appeared before
<br />Council relative to water in basements and the flooding condition in the
<br />street. It was moved by rIr. :°~ilson, seconded by Mrs. Hinkel, the Service
<br />Director investigate the condition of the sewer on Georgette and make the
<br />necessary recommendations as far as cleaning is concerned. "Yeas" Hinkel,
<br />Hixson, Kramer, O'Neill, ~Jilson.
<br />Mr. Van Gillen appeared before Council relative to the Sweetbriar Develop-
<br />ment, with respect to assuming obligations for the streets and sidewalks,
<br />and depositing the sum of X12,000.00. They also requested a decision on
<br />culverting the ditch for use of the last two lots, and would also like
<br />assurance they would not be required to assume any obligation on the sewer
<br />and water line installations.
<br />Discussion ensued relative to the subdivision insofar as the manholes
<br />being of standard requirement; whether or not the sewer and water is
<br />adequate, (which would require investigation before Council could commit
<br />themselves); the bond of rTonson-r~iilliams; the lack of inspection moneys
<br />posted; and the tiling of the culvert. The matter was turned over to
<br />the Streets, Sidewalks, Sewers, and Ditch Committee for further study.
<br />The Engineer reported his estimate for paving, walks, and culverting at
<br />X14,340.00, and that the bond for $12,500.00 is insufficient.
<br />Nir. Bob Miller, Ohio Shores Cozistruction Company, appeared before Council
<br />requesting dedication of Subdivisions Nos. 1 and 2, Ambour Drive. This
<br />matter was directed to the Plats and Safety Committees for investigation.
<br />Mr. Behlen, Theresa Lane, appeared before Council inquiring relative to
<br />the permit granted the Shell Oil. Company to erect a gasoline station at
<br />Columbia and Lorain :goads. The Solicitor reviewed the circumstances
<br />leading up to the determination. by the Board, and stated the minutes of
<br />the Zoning Board of Appeals reflect tY~e decision of the Board..
<br />The Clerk advised that the Board of Elections assured him the X1,700,000
<br />Bond Issue and the determination to proceed will be on the ballot in
<br />November.
<br />Ordinance No. 2858, the ~'~ules and Regulations of the Fire Department, had
<br />been given its third reading, and the adoption deferred at the last Council
<br />meeting. State Statute gives authority to the Safety Director to proceed
<br />with such rules and regulations without approval of Council; and therefore,
<br />it was moved by Mr. Hixson, seconded by Mr. 'vr'ilson, the ordinance be put
<br />up to a vote. "Nays" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, O'Neill, oJilson. Thereupon,
<br />the ordinance was defeated.
<br />It was moved by T"~r. 6v'ilson, seconded by r~r. Kramer, the Service Director
<br />be authorized to procure the necessary insecticide concentrate to continue
<br />t)ae spraying on an experimental basis. "Yeast' Hinkel, Eiixson, Kramer,
<br />O'Neill, ;~~ilson.
<br />It was moved by N1r. ',lilson, seconded by Mr. Hixson, the Solicitor be
<br />directed to prepare the necessary legislation to retain Squire, Sanders,
<br />and Dempsey as legal advisors for the sewer program. "Yeas" Hinkel,
<br />Hixson, Kramer, O'Neill, dilson.
<br />The Service Director stated the bus line has been operating in the "red"
<br />on Sundays, and asked Council's approval of running the Sunday lines into
<br />Kact.ms and to the Rapid Transit, which could result in a savings of
<br />approximately y~400.00 per month. No negotiations will be made until a
<br />meeting is held with Fairview and the matter discussed with them. It
<br />was moved by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mr. vJilson, that the Sunday schedule
<br />changes in the bus line be referred to the Transportation Committee.
