JUNE 2, 1959 - PAGE 2. <br />Mr. Kramer is now present. <br />A communication was read from Olmsted Colony relative to the approval of <br />the pavement plans. The plans have been turned over to the Streets, <br />Sewers, and Sidewalks Committee for further study. <br />A communication was read inviting Officials to attend the service of <br />organization of the John Knox, United Presbyterian Church, to be held <br />a.t Coe Elementary School at 8:00 P. M., June 14th, 1959. <br />A communication was read relative to a four-grave lot in Coe Ridge Cementery <br />now owned by Douglas Dewey, which he would like to sell back to the City. <br />Ordinance No. 2853 was introduced by Mrs. Hinkel. An ordinance authorizing <br />the purchase of four graves in Lot No. 14, Section F, Coe Ridge Cemetery <br />for the sum of $40.00. It was moved by Mrs. Hinkel, seconded by Mr. Kramer, <br />that the statutory rule be suspended and the ordinance be read immediately <br />the second and third times and put on its passage. The affirmative vote <br />on said motion was as follows: Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, <br />O'Neill, Wilson. ^hereupon the ordinance was read the second and third <br />times and put on its passage and the affirmative vote thereon was as <br />follows: Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson. <br />A communication wa_s read from Persky & Loeb relative to Sunrise Development <br />demanding the Clerk certify the plat as amended, setting forth the date <br />of submission of the plat and the failure to take action as required by <br />statute. <br />Resolution No. 2854 was introduced by Mr. O'Neill. A resolution of <br />sympathy to the family of Phyliss Thiede, former secretary of the Recrea- <br />tion Commission, who passed away May 24th, 1959• It was moved by Mr. <br />O'Neill, seconded by Mrs. Hinkel, the resolution be adopted as read. <br />"Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson, <br />Resolution No. 2855 was in~roduced by Mr. O'Neill. A resolution of <br />sympathy to the family of Alex Kanareff, upon the death of his father, <br />Tihon Kanareff, who passed away June 1st, 1959• It was moved by Mr. <br />O'Neill, seconded by Mrs. Lynch, the resolution be adopted as read, <br />"Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson. <br />Resolution No. 2856 was introduced by Mr. Hixson. A resolution commending <br />Therell Sipe for his outstanding work on the Planning Commission, terminated <br />by reason of moving from the City. It was moved by Mr. Hixson, seconded <br />by Mr. O'Neill, the resolution be adopted as read. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, <br />Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson. <br />Mr. Harvey Levy, Chairman of the Recreation Commission appeared before <br />Council recommending an increase of $300.00 per year for Mr. R. H. Slater, <br />Recreation Director, and that a salary of $25.00 per month be granted to <br />Charlotte Phillips, Secretary of the Recreation Commission. It was moved <br />by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mr. MacDonald, the Solicitor make the necessary <br />additions to the present ordinance to cover the increase and the hiring <br />of the secretary. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, <br />O'Neill, Wilson. <br />Mr. Wilson announced the program. for All Scouts Day, June 6th, 1959. <br />At a meeting of the Finance Committee, recommendation was made to issue <br />$35,©00.00 councilmanic bonds to cover the costs of building the addition <br />to the Police Station for the jail, and a service garage. It was moved <br />by Mr. Krar.~er, seconded by Mrs. Hinkel, the Solicitor prepare the necessary <br />legislation relative to the issuance of Councilmanic Bonds in the amount <br />of $35,000.00 to pay for the erection of the addition to the police station <br />and service garage, over a 10 year period. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, <br />Lynch, tacDonald, O'Neill, `~ilson. <br />The Finance Committee also discussed the purchase of a new police car <br />and recommended the station wagon be kept in the Police Department until <br />such time as more men would be made available to the Fire Station Rescue <br />Squad. The purchase of a new police car will be discussed again in <br />October. <br />
