JUNE 2, 1959 - PAGE 3. The Safety Committee met and discussed the matter of having Police protection at public affairs throughout the City, a.nd recommended the Safety Director make the necessary arrangements to have someone at these doings. In regards to the probability of a full time inspector, Committee felt this could not be accomplished at this time. Also discussed was the purchase of new fire hose, a Jeep for grass and auto fires, and a new fire truck, in the amount of $30,000.00 to be placed on the November ballot to take care of all of this equipment. However, since the sewer bond issue is to be on the ballot, Committee recommended the purchase of the necessary amount of hose, and that the Jeep and Fire truck be placed on the May bdl.lot. It was decided to investigate as to how long it would take to get a fire truck, and it will be discussed further at the next Council meeting. The Streets, Sewers, Sidewalks, and Ditch Committee will meet on the 16th of June at 7:00 P.M., with the Engineer and Service Director to go over Olmsted Colony and whatever Committee might have at that time. The Mayor recommended Council consider the East Ohio Gas Company ordinance regulating and fixing of increased rates for the City of North Olmsted be put on first reading in order to continue the francise. Ordinance No. 2857 was introduced by Mrs. Lynch. An ordinance regulating and fixing the price at which the East Ohio Gas Company, its successors and assigns, shall be required +,o furnish natural gas to the City of North Olmsted and its inhabitants.,, The ordinance was given its first reading only. , 11j~ + , + ' ' --. Mr. Hixson reported the Municipal Properties Committee concurred with the opinion of the Finance Committee for the construction of the addition to the Police Station fcr a new jail, and the service garage. Resolution Ne. 2858 was introduced by Mr. MacDonald. A resolution adopting the Rules and Regulations for the members of the Fire Department _ L for the City of North Olmsted. ' ~ ~ ~ The resolution was given its first reading only. It was moved by Mr. Hixson, seconded by Mrs. Hinkel, that the City of North Olmsted join in with other municipalities by expending an amount not to exceed $150.00 to hire legal counsel in opposing the East Ohio Gas rate increase. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson. It was moved by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mr. O'Neill, Mr. Hazelton's absence be excused.
