"Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, i'~ramer, MacDonald, O'Neill, '~ilson. <br />The Acting Safety Director read a communication from Mrs. Johnson, <br />23642 Florence Avenue, expressing appreciation to the Fire Department <br />for their excellent work. <br />The Engineer reported relative to the petition for sidewalk on <br />Canterbury Road, from Lorain :Road north to the city limits is insuffi- <br />cient. A total of 10,075 feet exists, and the required 60f frontage <br />would be 6,045 feet. The total foot frontage contained in tTh~petition <br />amounted to 4,719 feet, leaving a shortage of 1,326 feet. <br />petition was returned to Mr. Filson, <br />The Engineer also reported relative to the Garden City survey, which <br />is now completed and on file at t:~e City Hall. The report concerned <br />the surface run off and septic tank effluent, for. the entire area. <br />The Clerk read a note of thanks from the family of Carl Haettich. <br />The Clerk read a communication from Governor Michael DiSalle, acknowledging <br />receipt of our Resolution No. 2810 pertaining to the laws which permit <br />the sale of 3.2 beer to minors, and the resolution will be given con- <br />sideration at the appropriate time. <br />In the absence of Nirs. Lynch, the Glerk advised street lamps were <br />installed for the City of North Olmsted as follows: <br />T~dalter Rd., N.E. corner of Twin Circle Drive <br />Brookpark Rd. at Lorain Rd. center strip East Bound Rdwy. <br />Brookpark d. at Lorain Rd, center strip 'aJest Bound Rdwy. <br />The Clerk read a communication from the North Olmsted Chamber of Commerce, <br />together with the endorsement of "Jungle Larry's Circus Zoo", as <br />favoring the establishment of the zoo at 24002 Lorain Road. <br />The Clerk read a communication from the executive Board of Coe PTA <br />requesting consideration be given to the possibility of enacting a <br />zoning ordinance prohibiting the construction of any kind of drive-in <br />type of business within 500 feet of a school, It is felt that this is <br />necessary for the safety of the children of the community. ~`he matter <br />was referred tc the Flats Committee for consideration. <br />The Clerk read a communication from Mr. Oviatt relative to a request <br />from Mr. Barthell R. ~;tocker, F•resident of the Congregation of Ascension <br />Lutheran Church, that the street light presently in front of the church <br />be moved to the next pole to the East, and also requesting permission <br />to erect small metal signs on Lorain Road informing the motorists they <br />are approaching the church. This was referred to the Service Director <br />for consideration. <br />The communication also advised Nir. w°,till.iam NicCrone has been designated <br />as Acting Assistant City Solicitor for the purpose of prosecuting <br />police cases involving the city, for a two-month period commencing <br />March 16th, 1959. This was brought about by the request of Patrick A. <br />Gareau for a sixty-day leave of absence. <br />Mr. Hixson reported relative to the praperty of crank Chesney offered <br />for sale to the City, adjacent to school property. Committee recommended <br />that it not be purchased at this time. <br />Air. Russell of Gessner ~~oad inquired relative to the zoo. The Building <br />Commissioner replied the property in question was in a retail business <br />zone. Pir. Tetzlaff had applied for a public zoo, which is a noncon- <br />forming type of occupancy, and. was informed that the occupancy applied <br />for had been denied and would be going before the Zoning Board of <br />Appeals. <br />
