<br />5. Sewer improvements, particularly the area where drainage is inadequate,
<br />Clague Road, Frank Street, and Clifford Drive area.
<br />6. Additional catch basins on Lorain Road, as the drainage is not proper.

<br />a l~z ton dump truck, which could be used for plowing dead-end streets.
<br />8. General improvements - to repaint the Council Chamber and the exterior
<br />of the City Hall.
<br />9. Revision of the Zoning Ordinance.
<br />10. Council, by ordinance, move to require all records or documents per-
<br />taining to the City to be kept in the City Hall.
<br />11. Council consider raising the salary of they Chief of Police up to
<br />standard with other communities, in order that it may be in line in
<br />the future for a full-time position.
<br />12. Purchase two new buses for the Municipal Bus Line.
<br />The Mayor further stated relative to the appropriation ordinance, he would
<br />like to sit in on the meetings of the Finance (:ommittee, so this program can
<br />be carried out. Mr, Kramer asked how the Mayor planned on doing this without
<br />raising taxes. The Mayor stated that his intention is to accomplish this in
<br />phases and live within the budget, so as not to increase taxes.
<br />Pursuant to the report from the Municipal Court comparative figures, Mr.
<br />Wilson recommended the Police Department be commended for the excellent work
<br />they are doing. It was moved by Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Hixson, the
<br />forth Olmsted Police Department be commended for the excellent work they are
<br />doing. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, Wilson.
<br />The Service Director reported relative to flooded areas. Steps are being taken
<br />to correct the drainage for the Maple School parking lot and drive to divert
<br />the flow to the West and disconnect the storm sewer from the Frank Street
<br />storm sewer. The estimated cost of this project would be $719.00, and a
<br />meeting is scheduled with the School Board in ~a.nticipation of the Board paying
<br />these costs.
<br />The Service Director also reported relative to the bottleneck for drainage at
<br />Clague and Clifford Drive. The culvert capacity is not sufficient and a sewer
<br />is proposed on the West side of Clague Road, approximately four to five hundred
<br />feet to take the water from the West before it gets into the culvert. Also, on
<br />Clifford, there is a 33" pipe to serve the area, which is only 50% adequate;
<br />and it is recommended ~.nother 3 pipe he added to the one already in the area.,
<br />to make it the equivalent of a 66" pipe.
<br />The Service Director read a communication from the Bus Drivers' Committee re-
<br />questing a 10% wage increase, which was turned over to the Finance Committee.
<br />The Safety Director reported twelve building permits issued for the month of
<br />January, with a total valuation of $144,750.00»
<br />The Safety Director reported activities of the Police and Fire Departments for
<br />the month of January, including 78 citations, of which 8 were issued to trucks.
<br />The Safety Director recommended additional personnel in the Police and Fire
<br />Departments, and that the position of detective be created as our detective
<br />had been promoted to Lieutenant.
<br />The Safety Director also recommended Committee take into consideration the
<br />purchase and installation of a teletype in the Police Station, at a total
<br />cost of approximately $200.00 per year, to buy and maintain. He also
<br />recommended something be done about Mutual Aid protection, that together with
<br />the five communities, we would have approximately fifty men on duty at all times.
<br />Mr. Wilson stated that at the first meeting in January, when the Fire report
<br />for the year was given, it was noted the valuation of property involved was
<br />up in the millions of dollars, but the loss amounted to just a3~out 3.4~ and
<br />introduced a motion of commendation for theFire Department for the fine
<br />work that had been done. It was moved by Mr. ldilson, seconded by I+rLr. MacDonald,
<br />the Fire Department be commended for their excellent work. "Yeas" Hinkel,
