v ~_ <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />MAYOR'S REPORT COVERING THE YEAR 1958 <br />S E R V I C E D EPA R T M E N T <br />Garbage & <br />1100 <br />,, 667 <br />1767 <br />1475 <br />292 <br />Rubbish Collection <br />Loads of garbage and non-burnable rubbish <br />rr of burnable rubbish <br />" 1958 (Total) <br />" 1957 " <br />Additional loads in 1958. <br />Ditch Cleaning Program <br />Due to the delay in obtaining the County Drag Line, and because of the <br />unemployment situation during the year 1958, the ditch program was carried <br />out with the use of the backhoe and hand labor. A temporary crew was <br />employed for this purpose and 4 miles of ditches were cleaned. <br />Road Conditioning, Etc. <br />Two miles of streets were oiled, and 14 miles of streets were resurfaced. <br />The parking lot at the North Olmsted Community Cabin was slagged and re- <br />surfaced and the parking lot at the City Hall was resurfaced. A portion <br />of Columbia Road, north of Brookpark, was also resurfaced. <br />Westmont Avenue was improved with material from Lorain Road and then topped <br />with No. 7 slag. <br />Southern Avenue was widened and a drainage ditch was installed, which <br />necessitated re-routing the catch basin and removal of trees. <br />Street Lighting <br />Forty-six lights were installed on various streets throughout the City <br />during the year 1958. <br />Miscellaneous <br />The Maintenance Building was repaired, heating equipment installed and a <br />concrete floor was laid, thereby enabling the mechanics to service City <br />equipment regardless of weather conditions. <br />Ail labor in connection with the new bus office in the bus garage was <br />performed by Service Department personnel. Said work included the tiling <br />of the floor, electrical wiring, and the installation of the heating units.. <br />670 co~-xplaints and requests were taken care of during the y~ ar 1958. <br /> <br />B U S D E P A R T M E N T <br />1.
