MINUTES Or' A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL <br />OF TH?, CITY OF NORTH OLP~STED, OHIO <br />DECE:'~3ER 2, 1958 -• 8:11 P. M. <br />Present were Paul J. Gareau, Mayor; Ralph A. Hazelton, President of <br />Council; James Hinkel, Eddie Triixson, m. H. Kramer, Mary Alice Lynch, <br />Bruce AlacDonald, rrancis O'Neill, James ?3~lilson, Lloyd E. Byrnes, <br />Service Director; and Carl F. Haettich, h>afety Director. <br />Also present were C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor; E. r`. Christman, Clerk; <br />and Alex Kanareff, Engineer. Absent: A}_ice Dobbins, Treasurer. <br />h:r. Hixson requested the minutes be corrected because Ordinance No. <br />2778 originally included the granting of a permit for the parade at <br />the Great Northern Shopping Center, ar_d i;he Solicitor is to redraw the <br />ordinance. <br />The minutes of November 18th were ai;provE;d as corrected. <br />The Mayor read a communication from the bast Ohio Gas Coi~~pany relative <br />to proposed rate increases, which was re~erred to Corr~mittee for further <br />study. <br />The Nayor read a communication from the County of Cuyahoga relative to <br />the improvement of Dover Center Road, submitting their invoice for <br />North Olmsted's share for such paving, of which one-third is now due <br />in the amount of X7,049.55. <br />Th.e Mayor read a communication from the Cleveland Electric Illuminating <br />Company relative to proposed rate increases, which was referred to <br />Committee f'or further study. <br />The P~~ayor read a communication from the North Olmsted Planning Comr:,ission <br />requesting attendance by Council of a special meeting on December 8th, <br />8:30 P. P1. Mr. Abendroth of t'r.e Regiona_L Planning Commission is to <br />speak at this meetin~~. <br />The Service Director reported he had recf:ived a communication from the <br />State Highway Depa~~tment in regards to the resolution sent to them <br />relative to the resurfacing of ColttrAbia '_~2oad from Lorain .Road to the <br />southerly city line. m'.~~ey will assume only twenty percent of the costs <br />for resurfacing. <br />The Service Director requested a meeting with the :'finance Committee <br />relative to wade adjustments for the Service Department. A meeting <br />is scheduled December 9th. <br />The Niayor recommended consideration be given additional count) roads <br />in the city of Idortl~ Olmsted be placed on a definite program with the <br />County for resurfacing. <br />The Safety Director reported activities of the Building Department for <br />the month of November as follows: 41 permits at $566.00, with an <br />estimated valuation of ~p520,000.00. <br />The Safety Director reported activities of the i'ire Department, Folice <br />Department (including citations), and t'r_a Dog t~Tarden for the month of <br />November. <br />The Engineer requested a meeting t~aith the Streets Committee relative to <br />Sweetbriar Drive, and would like Pr. Monson of the Monson-~r7illiams <br />Corporation present at this meeting, reg,~rding plans signed by Mr. <br />Cloyd which are different from the o.rigi:nal s~_gned by Mr. Cloyd. A <br />meeting is to be scheduled for 7:00 P. A'?., December 9th. <br />Mr. O'Neill, Chairman of the Transportation Cormittee, advised of a <br />meeting at 8:00 P. t'., December 18th, with R~r. Kelly, .Traffic Engineer <br />for the Cleveland Transit System, and would like to have i~"r. Hinkel, <br />N_"r. Kramer, the faycr and Service Director present at this meeting. <br />
