<br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITE OF
<br />NORTH OLT~STED, OHIO - $:12 P. M.
<br />Present were Paul J. Gareau, Mayor; Ralph A. Hazelton, President of Council;
<br />James Hinkel, Eddie Hixson, Wm. H. Kramer, Mary Alice Lynch, Bruce MacDonald,
<br />Francis O'Neill, James Wilson, Lloyd E. Barnes, Service Director; and Carl F.
<br />Haettich, Safety Director.
<br />Also present were C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor; F. M. Christanan, Clerk; and Alice
<br />Dobbins, Treasurer.
<br />Everett Dean, Engineer, was absent.
<br />The Minutes of May 20th were approved as read.
<br />The minutes of the adjourned meeting of May 2$th were approved as read.
<br />The Service Director reported the street resurfacing program would begin the
<br />first part of next week, and would issue a list of anticipated repair when a
<br />breakdown of quantities was received from the Engineer.
<br />The Safety Director reported Ernest Zoldesy's elassificai~ion was changed from
<br />Part-time Fireman to Full-time Fireman.
<br />The Safety Directorieported he had received prices on the stretcher for the
<br />Station Wagon, complete with brackets, mattress and corer, at $234.00, less
<br />10 per cent. This was turned over to the Safety Committee.
<br />The A'layor read a letter of resignation from John R. Cloyci, City Engineer,
<br />dated April 30th, 195$, respectfully submitted, to become effective when
<br />an Engineer was qualified and appointed.
<br />The Mayor read a communication from Chapman & Chapman, attorneys for the
<br />North Olmsted Congregational Church, objecting to issuance of a G-2 license
<br />for Cappy's Delicatesson at 30530 Lorain Road, in accordance with Article VII,
<br />Section 2-e of the Zoning Ordinance. The hearing is to be held possibly in
<br />June, and they request representation by the City at the hearing.
<br />The Mayor submitted a contract received by the Board of County Commissioners
<br />to revise the existing contract for the .feeding and care of prisoners 2.t the
<br />County Jail, raising the rate from X3.75 to X4.25 per day. This is to be
<br />executed and returned before August 1st, as the present contract expires in
<br />sixty days.
<br />The Mayor reported he had received an accountant's report on the City of
<br />Cleveland Water Department, prior to the increase of rates. This was turned
<br />over to committee for further study, toget'~er with a report from the Cleveland
<br />Electric Illuminating Company.
<br />The Building Commissioner reported thirty-six permits were issued in May
<br />totaling X42$.00, and estimated valuation at ~?_56,131.00.
<br />A communication was read from R. ~r~+. Kotab thanking Council and the Service
<br />Director for the work done at Whi.tethorn and Lorain Aver.~ues.
<br />~~.. Communications were read from the North 071nsted Community Council, and the
<br />North Olmsted Chamber of Commerce, recommending the .8 mill Community Hospital
<br />Levy be placed on the ballot in November.
<br />A history of the Community Hospital from the Health Committee Chairman, Dr.
<br />Clark Peck, was read and the renewal contract for a period of five years
<br />at ,$ mills in the form of a resolution was submitted by C. J. McClelland,
<br />providing for submission to +,he electors.
<br />Resolution No. 2700 was introduced by Mr. Kramer. A resolution providing
<br />for submission to the Electors of the City of North Olmsted, Ohio, of the
<br />question of the approval. of a contract and a tax levy for the improvement
<br />and maintenance of the Community Hospital of Berea. The resolution was
<br />given its first reading only.
