<br />Mayors for the purpose of discussing ways and means by which State Route 10
<br />Lorain Road could be improved within the two camomunities. The methods of
<br />reconstruction were discussed and also the various means of financing.
<br />It was recommended the entire surface be taken out and replaced with asphaltic
<br />concrete. Mr. Stevens, from the State Highway Department had taken test
<br />borings on the center strip on Lorain Road.
<br />The Mayor proclaimed dune 7th, 195$, as "All Scouts Day". The Parade is to
<br />start at 1:00 P.M., and he asked cooperation of all City Officials. The Mayor
<br />appointed James Wilson as Council representative.
<br />The Mayor read a communication from the Greater Cleveland Clean-Up Committee
<br />urging support of the 35th Annual Greater Cleveland and C~rahoga County Clean
<br />Up, Paint Up, Fix Up, Light Up Campaign, and proclaimed the week from May 7th
<br />to May 14th for the Campaign, and requested fu17. participation in the program.
<br />The Mayor read a communication from the North Olmsted Auxiliary to Post No.
<br />7647 announcing their Annual Buddy Poppy Drive, commencing 4:00 P.M.,
<br />Wednesday, May 21st, and continuing through Saturday, May 24th, 195$. Further
<br />information may be obtained by contacting Mrs. Winifred E. VanHouten, Chair-
<br />man for the Auxiliar,~.
<br />Mr. Nilson announced the tentative program for All Scouts Day, beginning
<br />at $:00 A.M. at the City Hall, and will have further information by the next
<br />meeting of Council before June 7th.
<br />There is to be a meeting of the Finance Committee at $:30 P.M., May 13th,
<br />at the home of the Auditor.
<br />Mr. MacDonald reported Mr. Kuhn of Floyd Browne & Associates informed him the
<br />Federal Government had passed a X1,000,000.00 Works Program the early part
<br />of March, and a portion of this would go through Housing and Home Finance
<br />Agency, which is the source of our funds for the sewer program, and this could
<br />have a great deal of bearing on our program.
<br />Mr. Hixson reported that the Properties Committee had investigated the request
<br />of Miss Florence Chambers for fencing the cemeteries. They are in particularly
<br />good shape as is, and the Committee is not in favor of fencing them in.
<br />Mr. 01Nei11 reported regarding a meeting at the City Hall April 29th with
<br />four professional engineers present, to set up the duties and compensation
<br />of a City Engineer, which was submitted to the Solicitor for his corrections
<br />or whatever he may set forth, and a revision of the contract. It was moved
<br />by Mr. O~Neill, seconded by Mr. Hinkel, the Solicitor draw up an ordinance
<br />setting up the duties and compensation of an Engineer. f*Yeas'~ Hinkel, Hixson,

<br />Messrs. Boza, Curtis, Behlen, Lewis, and Harris, aLl residents of Theresa Lane
<br />appeared before Council with a petition reporting the condition of their
<br />street, chuck holes, the grade of the street, and the drainages for Council.
<br />to take necessary action to have it improved. They also inquired as to
<br />whether or not the street had been accepted for dedication and if a bond was
<br />posted by the builder. The Auditor stated there was a contractors bond far the
<br />street, the street has not been accepted for dedication, and the plat was
<br />accepted for recording purposes only. Mr. Wilson is to meet with Mr. Boza,
<br />together with the Engineer and the Building Commission on May 17th to make
<br />a survey of these conditions. The Auditor will give the bond to the Solicitor
<br />for report at the next meeting. It was also suggested a letter to N. F. Molnar,
<br />Inc., be written regarding his intentions, and that the Engineer send in a
<br />report on Theresa Lane.
<br />Mr. Fitzgerald, representing the Illuminating Company requested no action
<br />be taken on the resolution opposing the proposed rate increase until such
<br />time that a full statutory report is received from the Public Utilities
<br />Commission of Ohio, that the motion be considered premature and action be
