MARCH 25, 1958 <br />MINUTES OF AN ADJOURNED MEETING OF THE COUNCII, <br />OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO - 8:0$ P.M. <br />present were Paul J. Gareau, Mayor; Ralph A. Hazelton, President of Council; <br />James Hinkel; Eddie Hixson, I~hn. H. Kramer; Mary Alice Lynch; Bruce MacDonald; <br />Francis O~Neill, James Wilson; and Lloyd E. Barnes, ServS.ce Director. <br />Also present were C. J. Oviatt, Solicitor; E. M. Christman, Clerk; and Everett <br />Dean, Engineer; and Alice Dobbins, Treasurer. <br />The minutes of March lath were read and approved. <br />The minutes of the adjourned meeting of March 11th were read and approved <br />as corrected. <br />The Planning Commission met with Council regarding the extension of existing <br />subdivision located on MacKenzie Road, south of Lorain Road (MacKenzie Park <br />Subdivision). Mr. Pennington representing the developers requested Councils <br />approval of three problems: <br />1, Gdidth of streets approved at 50~ instead of 60~. <br />2. Improvement of streets with black top instead of concrete. <br />3. No requirement for sanitary sewers. <br />These problems were referred to the Streets and Utilities Committees and <br />they are to report back to Council at the next meeting. <br />The Service Director reported he and the Engineer met with the Division <br />Engineer for the State Highway Department who suggested the City take a <br />traffic count on Lorain Road, which was submitted together with a resolution <br />to the State Department to be forwarded to the Promotional Director in Columbus, <br />The Service Director also reported the Board of Control awarded the bid for <br />street resurfacing to the Northern Ohio Paving Company 1n an amount not to exceed <br />X18,624.00, The contract would be drawn up by the Engineer and presented <br />for approval. <br />The Mayor reported he met with the County Commissioners regarding the <br />financing of Dover Road, and it is to be extended over a three ,Tear period <br />to start in 1959. <br />The Mayor read a communication f coin the Cleveland Electric Illuminating <br />Company, which he turned over to Committee and will go along with''their.recommenda- <br />tion ~e increase; also with the Ohio Bell Telephone Company, he believes <br />that North Olmsted would benefit more than any other community and that <br />Committee is to come up with a recommendation. <br />The Mayor read a communication from the U. S. Post Office, regarding the <br />naming of new streets within a community. The Building Commissioner should <br />have a copy of the letter and booklet. <br />The Solicitor advised an ordinance of consent for Dover Road should be <br />authorized by the Service Director, entering into an agreement with the <br />County Commissioners, for payments over a three year period. <br />The Engineer reported regarding the drainage on Southern Avenue, and advised <br />the petition should be circulated on Decker, Burns and Forter also, which <br />would have to be assessed on benefit basis. <br />Nor. MacDonald advised the Stewarts (Mahler Subdivision) had been advised <br />they will now have to conform to the present ordinance and put in a concrete <br />street. Mr. Stewart intends to sell the subdivision. It was moved by Mr. <br />MacDonald and seconded by Mr. O'Neill that the President of Council write <br />to the Stewarts informing them of Council's decision to proceed with Mahler <br />Drive pursuant to Ordinance No. 2445.
