<br />MINUTES OF A MEETINCx OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br />NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
<br />Present were Robert L. Decker, L. H. Baker, Harry M. Crider, T+~u. H. Kramer,
<br />Ralph G. Neubauer, Geo. Porter III, G. H. Schwenk, and James F. Votava,
<br />~ Safety-Service Director. Dr. Lewis, Mayor, was absent.
<br />Also present were F. G. Kitson, Solicitor, E. M. Christman, Clerk, and
<br />Everett Dean, Engineer.
<br />In the absence of the Mayor, R. L. Decker became Acting Mayor, and Ralph
<br />G. Neubauer became President pro tem.
<br />Moved by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mr. Baker, that the minutes of November bth
<br />be approved as read, "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Kramer, Neubauer, MacDonald,
<br />Porter, Schwenk,
<br />The Safety-Service Director advised there were tvrelve bids received for the
<br />improvement of Decker Road •~rith storm sewer. Frate Construction Company
<br />had the best bid at X4,563.00. The Board of Control advised that Frate
<br />Construction Company was the best bidder and recommended the award be given
<br />to them. It was moved by Mr. Schwenk, seconded by Mr. Kramer, that the
<br />above award be approved. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Kf~amer, MacDonald, Neubauer,
<br />Porter, Schwenk.
<br />The Safety-Service Director advised the Engineer had the description for
<br />easements to cut down the curb at Columbia Road at Cedar Point Road. It
<br />was moved by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Porter, the Solicitor be directed to
<br />prepare the necessary steps to acquire the property for the widening of
<br />Columbia Road at Cedar Point Road. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Kramer, MacDonald,
<br />Neubauer, Porter, Schwenk.
<br />The Safety-Service Director read a communication from t:he Planning Commission,
<br />in which they recommended that a 100 ft. right-of-way for Brookpark Extension
<br />be protected from Porter Road to the Westerly City Line. The Streets Committee
<br />is to check vrith the Highway Department and the matter was held in abeyance
<br />until we receive this report.
<br />The matter of a signal light at Whitethorne and Lorain was referred back t.o
<br />the Safety Committee for further study.
<br />Mr. Crider reported that the paving of Decker hoad has ;gone as far as it can
<br />be done for the time of the year, and that Fitch Road sidewalks are nearly
<br />completed.
<br />Mr. Baker reported there was only one family requiring aid, and this has
<br />been taken care of.
<br />Mr. Schwenk reported Lot No. 14 off Sw®etbriar could be obtained for the
<br />entrance to the Henry Property, between Dover and Canterbury Roads. The
<br />lot is $0~ x 215 and can be purchased for X1,500.00. It was recommended
<br />that Council enter into an agreement with the School Board, to authorize
<br />the purchase by the Gity, and reimbursement of 35th of any additional
<br />expense incurred by the City for acquisition of said tract, together with
<br />three-fifths of all taxes and special assessments.
<br />Resolution No. 25$6 was introduced by Mr. Schwenk. A resolution authorising
<br />the Safety-Service Director to proceed with the purchase of real estate for
<br />entrance to future playground. It was moved by Mr. Schwenk, seconded by
<br />Mr. Baker, that the statutrory rule be suspended and the resolution be read
<br />immediately the second and third times and put on its passage. The affirma-
<br />tive vote on said motion was as follows: Baker, Crider, Kramer, MacDonald,
<br />Neubauer, Porter, Schwenk. Thereupon, the resolution was read the second
<br />and third dines and put upon its passage and the affirmative vote thereon
<br />was as follows: Baker, Crider, Kramer, MacDonald, Neubauer, Porter, Schwenk.
