<br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
<br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
<br />Due to General Election on November 5th, 1957, the regular meeting of the
<br />Council of the City of North Olmsted was held November 6th, 1957.
<br />Present were Dr. C. B. Lewis, Mayor; Robert L. Decker, President of Council;
<br />L. H. Baker, Harry M. Crider, Ralph G. Neubauer, Geo. Porter III, G. H. Schwenk,
<br />Bruce MacDonald, and inn. H. Kramer. James F. Votava, Safety-Service Director,
<br />was absent.
<br />Also present were F. G. Kitson, Solicitor; E. M. Christman, Clerk; and Everett
<br />Dean, Engineer.
<br />It was moved by Mr. Neubauer, seconded by Mr. Porter, that the minutes of
<br />October 15th be approved as read. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Kramer, MacDonald,
<br />Neubauer, Porter, Schwenk.
<br />It was also moved by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mr. MacDonald, that the minutes
<br />of the adjourned meeting of October 22nd be approved as read. "Yeas" Baker,
<br />Crider, Kramer, MacDonald, Neubauer, Porter, Schwenk.
<br />In the absence of the Safety Service Director, Mayor Lewis reported that the
<br />Service Director appointed L. W. Crider, as temporary inspector on sewers
<br />and water lines. It was moved by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mr. MacDonald, the
<br />above appointment be approved. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Kramer, MacDonald,
<br />Neubauer, Porter, Schwenk.
<br />The Mayor reported regarding requests for the erection of a traffic signal
<br />at Whitethorne and Lorain Road. The matter was referred to the Safety
<br />Committee.
<br />The Plat of Joe Bauer's Subdivision No. 1 was presented for reapproval.
<br />Mr. Bauer requested reapproval of the size of the lots and permission to
<br />move the cul-de-sacs on Vernon Drive and Field Drive. It was moved by Mr.
<br />Baker, seconded by Mr. MacDonald, the Plat be referred to the Plat Committee
<br />to consider the changes and report back after the Committee Meeting. "Yeas"
<br />Baker, Crider, Kramer, MacDonald, Neubauer, Porter, Schwenk.
<br />A communication from the Engineer to the Service Director on Ambour Drive
<br />No. 1 was read, stating that the sewer, water, and paving improvements on
<br />the first section of Ambour Drive met the requirements, but that sidewalks
<br />had not been installed. Pacer Construction Company requested acceptance of
<br />Ambour Drive No. 1 for dedication. The consensus of opinion of Council was
<br />not to accept the street until all improvements are in, as it would make a
<br />more uniform street for grading the lots.
<br />Mr. Neubauer reported that he met on the 26th to consider new changes in
<br />the bus schedule. They were meeting tonight with the Driver's Committee.
<br />Mr. Neubauer reported regarding installation of lights on quite a few streets,
<br />but stated this did not complete our present program, there were still more
<br />to be installed.
<br />A communication was read from Mr. Robert Jaenke of 3933 Clague Road, stating
<br />his sidewalk was lower than the previous one. The Engineer stated that the
<br />complaint was already on the list filed with the Inspector from the City of
<br />Cleveland, and that he and Mr. Rice would go over the whole list.
<br />Mr. MacDonald read the Health report for the month of September, 1957.
<br />Mr. Neubauer reported that the Plat Committee had met in regards to Joe
<br />Bauer's Subdivision No. 1. A communication was read from the Planning
<br />Commission stating that the changes in the above plat in regards to lot
<br />sizes and the moving of the cul-de-sacs on Field Drive and Vernon Drive was
<br />approved by the Committee.
