<br />Mr. Baker reported on Welfare. He was contacted by a family requiring aid.
<br />It has been taken care of and he will turn the bill into the City.
<br />Mr. Schwenk reported on two pieces of property which have been approved
<br />by the School Board for purchase, and asked for a special meeting of the
<br />Council to discuss their purchase, on September 4th, after the meeting with
<br />Floyd Brown and Associates.
<br />Mr. Schwenk also reported regarding an addition to the Police Department,
<br />at an estimated cost of X30,000.00.
<br />Mr. Schwenk reported again on the lot on Andrus. It has not as yet bean
<br />cleaned up. It should be leveled off and the weed: cut down. The Law
<br />Director stated that if the owners do not clean it up, the City should do
<br />it and assess it against the property.
<br />Mr. Behlen from Teresa Lane recommmended Council hold up the bond of N. F.
<br />Molnar until everything is dons to the satisfaction of the Engineer and
<br />Council and that the Engineer notify him before the street is dedicated.
<br />Mr. Hinkel inquired about the ditch behind Charles Avenue. Mr. Crider
<br />reported he had nothing as yet.
<br />Mrs. Ward inquired about a Fire Hydrant on Frank Street which had been
<br />broken. The estimated cost to repair a hydrant is X300.00. There are
<br />approximately twelve hydrants throughout the City which are not useable.
<br />It was moved by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mr. Neubauer that the hydrant on
<br />Frank Street be repaired. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, Neubauer,
<br />Schwenk. It was also moved by Mr. Neubauer, seconded by Mr. Kramer, that
<br />the City go as far as finances will allow to repair broken hydrants. "Yearn

<br />Mr. Wilson from Canterbury Road stated that there was a petition on Canter-
<br />bury for sidewalks, and inquired regarding estimated costs. Ths Engineer
<br />stated an approximate cost of X3.50 per foot if they do not ran into culverts,
<br />excess digging of trees, etc., and that residents may apply for permits prior
<br />to the time a Resolution of Necessity is passed. Engineering and inspection
<br />costs would be deducted from the permit cost and at~y amount not used would
<br />be refunded, d epending upon the size and location.
<br />The Mayor stated there would be a meeting on September 4th, at 11:30 A.M.,
<br />with newspaper reporters in order that they might get a clear story to the
<br />public regarding the proposed sewer plan. This would be a special interview
<br />for publication the next day.
<br />The Mayor read a newspaper clipping regarding the paving of Dover Center
<br />Road.

<br />The Mayor recommended that we condsAaa or buy the 20 ft. strip on Whitethorn,
<br />which is being used by Southwestern Savings & Loan, in order that it can be
<br />held for future street improvement. It was referred to the Streets Coamittes
<br />to come up with a recommendation of either condemning it or purchasing it.
<br />Ordinance No. 2545 was introduced by Mr. Baker: Aa Ordinance amending Section
<br />1 of Ordinance No. 2363, passed September 4, 1956, entitled nAn Ordinance
<br />regulating the discharge of water from downspouts". It was moved by Mr.
<br />Baker, seconded by Mr. Crider, that the statutory rule be suspended and the
<br />ordinance be read immediately the second and third times and put on its
<br />passage. The affirmative vote on said motion was as follows: Baker, Crider,
<br />Decker, Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk. Thereupon the ordinance was read the
<br />second and third times and put upon its passage and the affirmative vote
<br />thereon was as follows Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, Neubauer, Schwenk.
