<br />MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THT
<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO
<br />Present were S. W. Baumgardner, President of Council, L. H. Baker, Harry M.
<br />Crider, R. L. Decker, h6n. H. Kramer, G. H. Schwenk, Bruce MacDonald, Dr. Lewis,
<br />Mayor, and James F. Votava, Safety-Service Director. Ralph G. Neubauer was
<br />absent.
<br />Also present were F. G. Kitson, Solicitor, E. M. Christman, Clerk, and Everett
<br />Dean, Engineer.
<br />Moved by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Kramer, that the minutes of August 6th
<br />be approved as read. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, MacDonald.
<br />Moved by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Crider, that the minutes of the adjourned
<br />meeting of August 13th be approved as read. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker,
<br />Kramer, MacDonald.
<br />The Safety-Service Director reported that Community Council had requested
<br />permission to park on East Park Drive for the Homecoming. Mr. Decker stated
<br />that the Safety Ccittee, when making the recommendation to ban parking on
<br />East Park Dries, stated there was plenty of room inside the park.
<br />The Safety-Service Director stated that the Planning Commission wanted to
<br />know the status of the 20 ft. strip on Whitethorn Avenue. Southwestern
<br />Savings agreed not to build near the 20 ft. strip.
<br />The Safety-Service Director reported that he had met with Mr. Groth of the
<br />Metropolitan Park Board in regards to the purchase of fourteen acres for
<br />the Sewage Disposal Plant. It was requested that one of the Engineers from
<br />Floyd Brown Associates go over the entire plans with him.
<br />A petition for sidewalks for both sides of Fitch Road was presented. It was
<br />moved by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mr. MacDonald that the petition be referred
<br />to the Engineer. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, MacDonald.
<br />Mr. Decker stated that the Safety Coeaaittee had met in regards to revising
<br />the ordinance governing the pay and classification of Firemen, and to clarify
<br />the matter for the Civil Service Commission that first, second, and third
<br />class Firemen was not distinct enough to differentiate. The Safety Cosu~aittee
<br />recommended that the Solicitor redraw the ordinance making first year Firemen
<br />Third Class, Second year Firemen Second class, and Third Year Firemen First
<br />Class. The Assistant Chief to receive $5,7$4.00 per year.
<br />Mr. Crider reported in regards to requests to cleaning the ditch between
<br />4343 and 4~+9 Root Road, that he and the Street Commissioner had checked
<br />and found out cleaning was not the answer. The residents should install
<br />drain the because the ditch is too low.
<br />Mr. Crider reported that the street resurfacing program had been completed,
<br />with the exception of a few streets.
<br />Mr. MacDonald read the Health reports for May and June, 1957.
<br />Mr. Crider moved that Council give approval to Mr. Eisenstadt Yor Tree-Cans
<br />Subdivision, and to the R. A. Ga11 and G. A. Barnow subdivisions at Cedar
<br />Point Roads. The Engineer stated the sewers were designed large enough;
<br />however, when Ylash floods come, basements may be flooded.
<br />The Mayor reported that the Homecoming Parade would be Friday, August 23rd,
<br />at 7:~ P.M.
<br />The Mayor read a comanunication from the Beard of Elections stating that
<br />Wednesday, September 25th had bean designated for spacial registration in
<br />North Olmsted between the hours of 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M.
<br />to q:00 P.M. A motion was made by Mr. Crider, seconded by Mr. MacDonald
<br />that the City Hall only be used for registration. "Yeas" Baker, Crider,
