JUZY 2, 1957 - PAGE 3. <br />Mayor Lewis appointed Theresa Frobieter as Mayor's Secretary as of July 1st, <br />1957, compensation X300.00 per month. Motion was made by Mr. Crider, <br />seconded by Mr. Schwenk that the above appointment be approved. "Yeas" Baker, <br />Crider, Decker, Kramer, Schwenk. <br />The Mayor read a communication from the Fire Chief and Building Commissioner <br />in regards to amending Ordinance No. 2172 (The Gas Well Ordinance) recommending <br />that no structure be used for human habitation constructed closer than 100 feet <br />to a producing or abandoned gas or oil well unless said well has been treated <br />satisfactorily by the Division of Mines. <br />Mayor Lewis stated that the permit for the new shopping center had been issued <br />at a cost of X1,660.00, estimated cost of construction, three and one-half <br />million dollars. <br />Mayor Lewis read a communication from the Board of Education stating that mar.~y <br />complaints had been received by residents of Frank Street complaining about <br />their basements flooding, the cause apparently due to increased water in the <br />storm sewer from Maple School, and stating that only the water from the three <br />catch basins in the parking area ,oes through Frank Street sewers. <br />Mayor Lewis read a communication from the Fire Chief inviting the officials <br />to a regular meeting of the North Central Fireman's Association to be held <br />July 18th at 8:00 P. M., at Fire Station No. 2. <br />Mayor Lewis stated he had a communication from mail Crown stating that the <br />Division of Water and Heat would not grant permission to install a water <br />line on Canterbury Road, south of Butternut. <br />The Mayor reported that the Village Garage does nat run or race cars down <br />W. 231st Street and there is no excess noise after 8:00 P.M. <br />Resolution No. 25~ was given its third and final reading. Moved by Mr. <br />Kramer, seconded by Mr. Schwenk, the above resolution be adopted as read. <br />"Yeas" Crider, Decker, Kramer, Schwenk. "Nay" Baker. <br />Mr. Kitson reported that there were no charity cases committed to Community <br />Hospital in the years 1955 or 1956. He read that section of the Code <br />pertaining to municipalities contributing to the hospital. <br />A communication was read from the Department of Highways stating that they <br />had received a copy of our Resolution No. 2480 and that Brookpark was included <br />as part of the Interstate System. <br />The Solicitor read a communication from Attorney, William M. Green stating <br />that his clients, Glen iuuncy and Charlotte Kieffer were in3ured on May 29th <br />as a result of a hole in the pavement on Brookpark Road at Claque Road <br />where the 1~.2" water line had been installed. A motion by Crider, seconded <br />by Mr. Schwenk that the communication be turned over to the Cleveland Law <br />Department. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, Schwenk. <br />Mr. Kitson reported he had a communication from Wyner & Wyner in regards to <br />the fifteen suggestions for operating the sanitary land fill, and advised they <br />were not satisfied with all our answers. A motion made by Mr. Decker, seconded <br />by Nir. Kramer that the Solicitor advise Wyner & Wyner that the fifteen suggestions <br />were recommended by Council. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, Schwenk. <br />The Engineer reported that the petition for paving Decker Road from Lorain <br />to Midvale had over the required 60~ of signatures. Motion made by Mr. Crider, <br />seconded by Mr. Baker, that the Engineer prepare plans, specifications and <br />estimates for paving Decker Road. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, <br />Schwenk. <br />Mayor Lewis reported he had contacted the Mayor of tNestlake, who stated that <br />he would try to get easements to clean out the ditches. Mr. Kitson stated <br />that they had contacted the Carney Boys in regards to Mildred Avenue. They <br />stated that they would notify the contractor to start construction for the <br />improvement of M~7dred Avenue as soon as possible. <br />
