JULY 2, 1957 - PAGE 2 <br />Mr. Schwenk stated there are bad holes on Columbia Road, North of Brookpark <br />Road. Mr. Wissmann reported they had been filled once but needed filling <br />again. <br />Mr. Schwenk reported he had a complaint from Mr. Miller, 5045 Columbia Road <br />between Brookpark and Mastick on the East side of Columbia Road and that the <br />lot next North had been filled in and water settles in his back yard. The <br />Safety-Service Director said he would check into the matter. <br />Mr. Schwenk reported on a complaint of the ditch parallel to Lorain Road at <br />the end of West 230th, which breeds mosquitoes and that there were trees and <br />bushes on both sides of the ditch. <br />Mr. Crider, Chairman of the Sidewalk Committee had a list of streets recom- <br />mended by the Board of Education that we put in sidewalks. These are Gessner, <br />WTalter, Fitch, North Porter and Dover. <br />Mr. Bacon stated he had taken out a permit to install sidewalks on MacKenzie <br />Road and that he wanted to go ahead with the sidewalks. He wanted to know <br />why the Engineer hadn't set the grade stakes. The Safety-Service Director <br />stated that he had asked the Engineer not to set any stakes until the Council <br />decided whether they are Going to put sidewalks on one side or both sides of the <br />street. It was suggested that the whole matter be held up until the July 15th <br />meeting. He also advised that anyone having permits to put in sidewalks on <br />the East or West side could do so. <br />A petition for storm sewers on the 4~~est Side of MacKenzie Road, from near the <br />property of Joe Getz, northward to the County ditch which crosses MacKenzie <br />Road next to the McCool property and that a "T" or inlet be installed in each <br />lot to receive water. Moved by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mr. Schwenk the <br />petition be referred to the Engineer. "Yeas" Baker, Crider, Decker, Kramer, <br />Schwenk. <br />Mr. Ketchin and Mr. Kraus, representing Zehman, Wo1f,Shsrman Subdivision asked <br />that Council open reapproval of the plat with minor changes and assurance <br />that the Council would not rescind the ordinance of approval of said sub- <br />division for a period of at least twelve months. The linens for this Sub- <br />division should be returned to Mr. Kitson. <br />Petition signed by about 90~ of the residents on Whithorne Avenue protested <br />the installation of sidewalks on the Easterly side. <br />A gentleman from Fitch Road requested permission to install his own sidewalk. <br />He was informed that inasmuch as the Resolution of Necessity had been passed, <br />permission could not be granted. <br />Paul Gereau inquired about the .8 mill Community Hospital operating levy. <br />becoming a bond issue this Fall.. Mr. Schwenk explained that it was not a bond <br />issue, it was merely submitting it to the electors of North Olmsted at the <br />Fall election. Paul Gereau inquired if the referendum on light industry had <br />been filed. He was advised that it had not been filed. The Clerk advised <br />he had 90 days before election in which to file. Mr. Decker explained that <br />the P~layor's Committee had been working on the matter and an answer will be <br />forthcoming soon. <br />Mr. C. Oviatt, representing Mr. Saul Biskind of the shopping center presented <br />an ordinance approving a point of access Easterly of the intersection of <br />Brookpark and Lorain Roads, and permanently closing four points of access <br />near the intersection of State Routes 17 and 10 for the purpose of affording <br />better control of traffic in and to the proposed shopping center. <br />The Mayor read a communication from the State Highway Department in reference <br />to applications for access to State Route 17 amending their declaration for <br />limited access to allow for an opening about 1500 feet East of the Intersection <br />of Route 17 and Route 10 in consideration of the permanent closing of four <br />points of access in or near this intersection. <br />Mr. Oviatt brought up the question about the installation of sewers opposite <br />MacKenzie Park Development Company. A motion was made by Mr. Schwenk, seconded <br />by Mr. Decker, that the Solicitor write Suburbanite Homes instructing them <br />to install the sewers or the Council would rescind the Ordinance.
